We were lucky enough to be taken here for lunch. Sitting on the broad varanda in the gently fanned shade gazing across the green fairwaiys of what we are told is the third oldest golf club in the world. Considering it is in the heart of such a bustling city, it is suprisingly tranquil oasis of green and calm. The... More

this is the second Golf Course built away from Britain, and the one of the two golf courses in the world where a train track goes through the course

This members only club in Colombo is great. When in Colombo, I usually go here with a mate of mine who is a member. The place is very nice and the waiters are very good. Very attentive and very prompt service. The food is fantastic and I really love the starters ! I would definitely recommend this place !

This is apparantly the second oldest course outside the british isles. Very tight course that is flat and with few water hazards. If you hit stray you will hit somebody's house. It does however has its charms. there is a train track that goes across the course and sometimes you have to stop until the train passes. The old colonial... More

My wife and myself played a round of golf on Dec. 14th, 2013 at the Colombo Royal Golf club. At the start of the round the starter "advised" us to keep all our belonging with us all the time which we did and now we know why he gave us this advice. When we were taking out the golf balls... More

I like how I can still find my grandfather's name up on the awards board (from the 1930s!). Seriously, this place gives you a good idea of how things used to be. Nice building and ofcourse lovely course.

we arrived early and sat out on the veranda of the 8th Green, enjoyed 2 huge bloody Mary's. We ordered lunch and was invited inside to eat. Coffee back on the veranda. Service was friendly but slow, but nice to sit and observe local golfers enjoy their golf and club

Royal Colombo Golf Club was a reasonable course to play, over the past ten years it has lost its way with visiting golfers, they do not have the welcoming aura that I once experienced and are most certainly not cheap, 65 U S may sound reasonable, but they do not tell you of the enforced caddie charge, plus the tip... Played one round here and was disappointed. No information about temp greens until I found out on the first green. Full price for temps for this average course isn't worth it and I'm not sure it would be even with regular greens. Least favorite of the 3 courses I played (Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya).
