I just say there locals ask me 250 rupies for 8 string hoppers. In all Srylanka the price is 4-6 ripies for piece. I think that this is enough. Price for eat are crazy. Crazy. Accomodation are also expensive but in the average. Not for budget traveller.

I've stayed in arugam bay for 7 nights... This place is created for surfers, party. The small village Arugam is full of tourists from Australia and Europe... The main streat is good place where you can find a lot of restaurants and in the evening and night you can try,bbq fishes, prawns and calamaris...beaches are not so nice like perhaps... More

As in Ella, this is a place in Sri Lanka where you will only see tourists. The food is bland: do not try the rice and curry here ! The specialty in Arugam bay is pasta and pizza and roti with nutella... And I was quite disappointed with surf: hard to believe it is a 'worldwide famous spot' when you... More

Arugam bay is good for the surf (but don't expect big waves) but the beach is not the best we saw in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. The first days we went to the south end of the bay(where the fisshing boats are) because there's like a natural pool and it's very safe for the children. ANd the water is... More

Arugum Bay is a relaxing little village full of young travellers from Europe keen to enjoy the beach and learning to surf. If you are a surfer especially from Australia then you should hire a bike and look for surf breaks further along the coast as it is so crowded with people of low ability. The restaurants have cheap local... More

I spent two weeks in this beautiful place. There are many different attractions, but the biggest attraction is definitely the beach. Surfing is the holy grail in Arugam bay. There are many surf teachers and you can easily rent a surfboard for two weeks. The prices for renting a surfboard are very cheap. I learned to surf in a few... More

beautiful beaches, loads of surfing, Mambos on saturdays night is really good. A lot more touristy than the other places we went in Sri Lanka i really enjoyed it. As a girl you can wear shorts etc. Dont go to Sri Lanka and not go, we nearly made that mistake!

This was the worst place we visited in Sri Lanka, unless you are a surfer don't bother, the beach was covered in oil. The few hotels there are were overpriced and poor quality
