Beautiful park close to UB - must see

A beautiful park very close to the city - this is a great day trip but you could spend several days exploring!

Take your time to explore and take it all in. Always better if your in good company. Embrace (and prepare for) the differences that this places holds.

I love national parks, have travelled to many and walked in most of them. None has made quite the impression that Terelj NP did -- for both of us, this was one of the most relaxing, unwinding destinations we have ever visited. We went there on a tour organised by Great Genghis Expeditions (who provided an excellent driver and guide)... More

This is a tourist amenity so finding peace and quiet is not so easy. That said, it is full of interest with wonderful views, facinating rock formations and plenty of places to walk. We were able to meet local people and were made very welcome despite our inability to communicate verbally.

The Park is a beautiful place to visit. There are monastaries, formations such as Turtle Rock and wonderful areas in which you can hike. Stay in a ger, eat some mutton and enjoy the lovely landscapes!

This park is an amazing BEAUTY and only 40 minutes drive from UlaanBaatar, the BEAST. The mountains can be climbed (non technical) by anyone fit and in good health. Only 1% of the park can be explored by car trips. To see the rest, hire horses and a guide. We saw their version of Turtle Rock and the kids climbed... More

Stayed overnight in a Ger Camp and loved it. Beautiful scenery and amazing environment. Stay here and avoid Ulanbataar completely.

Too many people and cars! In spite of being a National Park there is far too much development! Hotels/gers everywhere!! You can't see the park at times!

It was a very nice day trip from Ulan Bator, very different from the city, climbed some rocks, saw turtle rock, had dinner with a nomadic family, visited a monastery. Great way to see and experience some of mongolia if you're only here a short time as me.
