It's quite a drive from the city but once your in the park you'll realise it's worth the drive. Vast landscapes and fantastic views across the steppe.

Hired a taxi and drove out. Spend the day wandering the hills. Came upon an old monastery with a delightful old man who was the keeper. Take food and water with you. Don't get lost!

When traveling in-and-out of Mongolia, things can occasionally go wrong. As a 16-year foreign resident of Mongolia-trust me! I highly recommend that you plan your trip with either your first night, or your last night in Terelj. This will give you a little travel cushion, plus it really gives you a feel for one of the nicest parts of Mongolia.... More

We spent two days in the National Park as our hotel was located in the middle, overlooking a beautiful river. Vast expanses of land, only few nomadic camps around, picnic along the rivers. We arrived by helicopter so had a superb view of the park

Summer time around Terelj become so crowdy. because its the most sightseeing place near city. Then many tourists and locals also go to Terelj. Fresh air, wild flowers, unique rocks so many nice things we can see there

This has unfortunately become a bit too touristy but good for a day trip or camping trip from UB. If you can, better to do a longer tour in Central Mongolia or in the Gobi Desert.

As part of our Trans-Mongolian train journey we chose to stop at UlaanBaatar and stay at a Ger camp in Mongolia. We were whisked away from the train station by our very own dynamic duo, the stoic and big-hearted driver Galaa and the very pleasant and ever-smiling Chimge, to the Khan Ger camp at Terelj National Park. The camp had... More

Terej national park is about a 90 minute drive out of central UB. It is basically a holiday camp that Mongolians who live in the city use in the summer months to get away from the polluted and busy city. My partner and I chose an overnight stay at Terej which we booked through Sunpath. Our tour included a nights... More

The road out to Terelj is now well metalled at least as far as the big Chingiss statue. It was November and cold so it was just me and lots of lovely Mongolian families showing their kids the statue and dressing up as Mongolian kings and queens. Don't forget to check out the Kazakh guy with the Eagles and Vultures.... More

If you only have a couple of days and want to spend it in a geer, that's one of the easiest place near UB to do it. Also quite good for horse riding. If you have more time, I would recommend everything else but that....
