This really is a must-see, and a quick 90 minutes from UlaanBaatar. Beautiful, beautiful park. Good for picnics by the river. Some good places to stay if you want more than a day trip.

It's not too far from Ulaanbaatar but it's definitely worth the trip. Once inside you will want a driver or a horse or something, everything is quite spread out. Definitely take the walk up to the temple and read the very contemplative signs on the path. It's meditative and peaceful. Beautiful even in fall

Terelj national park offers some great craggy mountainous scenery close to UB and is worth a visit. Staying at some of the smaller resorts is affordable and many are well appointed with meals served. Beautiful in winter with wild horses galloping through snowy timbered areas. An easy way to see some of wilds of Mongolia not too far out of... More

Horse ride from the horse station to the temple. Horses are pony size in Mongolia and feel free to roam there! The kids there could ride since very young and if you do not know how to ride, they could just pull your horse around, so just sit back and relax.

It was great place for walking in the valley. Horse riding was too much in the cold weather. The statue wasn't attractive as I expected. The hostel owner described it really well and I expected it much better.

A substantial and rather uncomfortable drive from the centre of UB, but the surrounds of Terelj National park are a very pleasant break from UB centre. The roads are in a terrible state of repair and requires patience, but the main entrance to the valley offers glorious views of park which improve as you venture further in. Plenty of activities... Spectacular scenery, "big sky," lots of birds. Liked it all! Close enough to the city for a daytrip; good choices for overnights.

It's quite a drive from the city but once your in the park you'll realise it's worth the drive. Vast landscapes and fantastic views across the steppe.

Hired a taxi and drove out. Spend the day wandering the hills. Came upon an old monastery with a delightful old man who was the keeper. Take food and water with you. Don't get lost!
