My girlfriend and I took the Trans-Siberian Railway from Moscow to Beijing in May 2014, and spent 4 days in Mongolia along the way. We were looking for an authentic experience and staying in a ger seemed like the best way to do it. Research led us to Stone Horse Tours, and they offered exactly what we were looking for.... More

It was nice to hear from you and have you at the cabin. The ger stay really is an authentic experience and Yadmaa and Davasuren enjoy having guests from around the world visit them. Hope the rest of your journey went well and perhaps we see you back here again some day. More

i went on a six day trip with a few of my friends. three of us had absolutely no horse-riding experience to speak of, but Keith, Sabine and the horses were wonderful. Keith and Sabine in particular immediately made us feel as if we were in good hands, giving us advice on how to ride, how to control the horses,... More

It was good to have you and the others on this trip. We were impressed with your riding abilities and quickly learning about how we travel with horses and camp. You guys can come back anytime. More

Three friends and I went on the last trip of October 2014 to Gorkhi Terelj National Park. I was the only rider of the group, but the horses were so patient and gentle, and Keith and Sabine so instructive and encouraging, my friends were cantering along the plains by Day 3. The food, courtesy of Sabine and Gana, was always... More

I guess we'll see you back here again next year (my dream, not nightmare). All of the group was good to have and fun to be around. The "novices" did very well and impressive with their ability to learn fast and feel the horse as they rode. Keep riding. We'll see you again. More

I was part of the Sept 10 day ride and I loved every minute, the horses were lovely and very responsive, the countryside was wild and beautiful, the saddles comfortable and the food that was produced out of a tiny tent was indeed amazing (including freshly ground coffee every morning and wine at night). Everything was well organized but at... More

Trish, it was great having you along and sharing with you what we do. As an experienced rider, you took to the horses and style of riding easily. You'd enjoy our longer and more demanding trip deeper into the Khentii Mountains. Come back anytime. More

I went on the 10 day ride in late September. I can not say enough about the quality of the horses, the equipment (both riding and camping), and the guides. Everything was well planned and provided for. The weather was cold, but the stove in the main tent helped considerably. The food was amazing, I still don't know how they... More

Thanks Karen. As you saw, our pack horses take their job seriously when carrying all the gear and food we need for our trips. The wood stove and warm dining tent (a spike tent) do make it cozy when traveling, especially when waiting out a snow storm. It was great to have you along and share what we do with... More

My friend and I took the Trans-siberian rail this May. This was indeed a once in a lifetime trip for me, especially. Although our itinerary was packed, my friend kindly accommodated my request to stay in a Ger camp in Mongolia. And so here we are. Davaa picked us from the airport. On our way to the camp, he answered... More

It was nice having you out there and enjoying a cup of tea and good conversation. Yadmaa and Davasuren provide the "real" herder experience and are always happy to share their home with visitors. We'll pass your comments on to them, which I'm sure they'll be happy to hear. Thanks for stopping by. More

My husband and I took the Transiberian Railway as honeymoon trip this May. We stoped in Mongolia for only 4 days and contacted Keith for a 3 night ger stay and 1 night in Ulan Bator. Everything worked as planned: we were picked up at the train station by Davaa (who spoke very good English) and were driven (along with... More

Thanks for your excellent review, we'll pass that on to Yadmaa and Davasuren. You're right, it is an authentic herder family experience for anyone who wants to see the "real" Mongolia and not a commercial camp. It was a pleasure to arrange for you and we're pleased you liked it. More

From the off, Stone Horse hospitality, efficiency and actual expeditions are head and shoulders above anything similar in Mongolia. The staff know what they are doing and are interesting and good fun. They have horses for all riding experience levels; all have a sense of humour. The equipment (including the amazingly comfortable and beautiful handmade saddles) are second to none... More

This is the second time in 2 years that we are riding with Stone Horse (which just goes to show how much we enjoyed our trip last year!). We had the same horses as last year, and it was like meeting up with old friends again, from Keith and Sabine to Dolzoo, Byambaa, Byuanaa and our horses. My horse, Brownie,... More

It was great having you guys back for a second year and with the added adventure of nature pouring down on us and throwing up a few challenges to the horse travel. Now you're ready for the longer more challenging 14 Day Khentii Mountains trip. You have the experience and ability to ride anywhere now. More

We had a really wonderful time. The family was gracious and kind. No English spoken but we made do. The food was limited but tasty and wholesome. The setting was gorgeous, horseback riding was fun. I also got to milk cows and assist in the slaughtering of a sheep (don't let that put you off - they were discreet about... More

Thanks for your comments Laura. Yes, it is a real herder family ger stay and not a commercial ger camp. This is the way most people in the countryside live in contemporary Mongolia...dogs and all. As for the city guest house experience, as a company, this is one of our biggest headaches, finding guest houses that are within budget travelers... More
