There is a lot to take in here, give yourself a good hour. Very interesting history made me walk away having even more respect for the people of Lao.

This was my first trip to Laos and it won't be my last. I try to visit a museum each time i visit a country and I was glad that I did here. Although the building and some of the exhibits could do with a facelife, the exhibits and information provided were interesting. I did prefer the ancient exhibits more... More

Could be beautiful and some of the exhibits upstairs are interesting but the whole place needs a facelift.

The museum consists of two parts. The first part highlights the the main places of interest in Laos. We were not aware of many of them. The second area deals with the military and political history. There are some very interesting photos. Most exhibits have English captions or explanations. The cost is just over one dollar. The facility itself is... More

It was only last year that I went into this museum from living in Vientiane for 9 years. Its run down but there are heaps of information and items to look at. It took me a good 2 hours to walk around the museum to see everything. Try to get there in the morning as there isn't much air flow... More

This museum reminds of many of the museum's i used to visit just after the 'wall' came down back in eastern europe. Please don't expect full air- conditioned luxury and state of the art exhibitions. It is very basic but very informative providing the visitor with a basic understanding of the history, culture and politics of Laos.

Super cheap, hugely informative on aspects of Laos politics and archaeology one would otherwise not know about, aircon on the second floor. This is not a big budget museum but if you want that sort of thing you probably shouldn't be in Laos to start with. Well worth a visit.

Had an absolutely wonderful time in this very well set out museum. Showed a lot of fascinating exhibits, understandable transcripts and organised in time order. Plenty to look at, loads of history covered too. Quite what a lot of people below were expecting before attending the museum is beyond me. People are far too quick sadly to write a shocking... More

Visited today and they must have put in a ton of work since the last reviewers visited. Amazing artifacts, well laid out floor plan, and air con on the second floor. Seriously, the archaeological section of this museum is one of the best I've seen outside of the British Museum in Cairo. Well worth a visit.

Well, as I implied, this place is not really worth a visit. Even though it's named a National History Museum, and ticket was 20,000 kips, it's being maintained in a bad condition. I haven't read any books which recommend this place so I didn't have any expectations for it then, it was a so so place for me to see.... More
