Wat Si Muang is an ok way to kill some time in Vientiane, but if you've ever been to Thailand, expect to be underwhelmed. The museum is run down and poorly labelled. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a Wat or Buddha artifact junkie.

Lots of action here. A monk on site blessing people. A fortune telling device. Lots of esoteric statues around the grounds. Throngs of people bringing flower gifts to pay for apparent blessings in the past. We've been to a ton of wats in Luang Prabang and here, and this one was the most interesting. It's even got a policeman guarding...

We went at 7+ in the morning and all the monks were out sweeping the temple grounds and the road outside. At that time there were no tourists other than us. The monkeys were howling very loudly though. It was quite interesting to see the fusion of local beliefs and Buddhism.
