This stupa is on all the Laos currency. THerefore is a must-visit. There are a few more attractions around this stupa.

We visited Pha That Luang by bicycle. The complex is outside the centre, and you have to cycle on some of the main roads to get there. There is very little traffic, so that is not really an issue.

Actually you can visit not only the Sacred Stupa, since there are a lot of other attractions just few minutes by Laotian tuktuk. But this place is really nice, not so big, not small one, just perfect, I didn't got inside the stupa, but walk around... really good place to visit. Also this place is surrounded by another Wats, worth... More

As my taxi approached the That Luang, I just wanted to step of the taxi and take a good photo shoot of the sacred stupa. It is simply stunning. I spent like an hour walking around it, snapping pictures from all angles. It is worth to get inside too for a close up photo shoot. The temples surrounding the That... More

In the same park, there are many things to see like the lying budha and more. You are going to need about 2 hours to see all these buildings (Within walking distance), enjoy the ride (don't forget to bring your embralla and water)

A definite must see. The size and scale of the stupa can only be appreciated by walking around it although you cannot get to close due to the highly sacred nature of the monument. The reclining Buddha next to but outside the stupa enclosure is also worth a look.

Loved the quiet grounds and beauty of the shrines. We rented bikes in the city center and biked here about 9 am and were about the only tourists. With our bikes we could go right up to the temple and nearby shrines, and as a bonus fly by the souvenir and food stands without anyone asking us to buy something.... More

You need to read up to realise how important this wonderful monument is to the Lao people. The gardens around it are worth a visit, too, as are the many temples and stupas.

It is an unusual stye for Stupas and given its history you know why. The gold colors are great during sunrise or sunset and of course the heat relief is also welcome at those times. Around the complex are other temples for you to explore at your leisure. They are functioning temples. Be respectful. The Great Stupa is walled. There... More
