That Luang Stupa is the single most important monument in Laos, almost equivalent to Angkor Wat for Cambodia. It’s really quite impressive, huge and covered with gold leaf. You can get great views of That Luang without going in. They change you just to get a few meters closer. Unless you plan on lighting some insense, enjoy the stupa from outside. The nearby Wat and market are also worth a quick look. More

Depending on which way you look at it, this monument dates either from the 3rd century or the 1930s. It has been knocked down, pillaged, rebuilt and pillaged again so many times that it has become a national symbol of Laos, a small, under-populated country surrounded by stronger neighbours on every side.That Luang, like Laos itself, has been the victim... Another must visit place in Vientiane; although it needs a bit of maintenance here and there it still is an impressive building and you can really make some good photos with the clear blue sky in the back. More

First time i have seen such a big stupa. It's a tourist attration.Said to be biggest in Laos.Looks like all the place is made of Gold that makes it different and the place is massive.Beautifully made and worth admiring. More

Nice arch, nothing special though. We stopped by for a quick look on the way over to Pa That Luang. Nice to sit in the shadows beneath if it's a sunny hot day. More

We hung around until after lunch when it re-opened so had a good look at all the other temples etc which I'm pleased about because there wasn't much to see inside. More
