Another hidden place in Kazakhstan which should be properly developed for tourism... It's difficult to find it by following the road signs and it takes ca 3 hours to drive there from Almaty. The road is not particularly difficult. Once there, you will see dozens of petroglyphs that have been left by a not-so-well-identified prehistoric tribe. It is just interesting... More

we were there by car, not marked place but possible to find no net, no cell network but gps worked on the phone finally, very interesting history, unbelievable stories from local guide one of the most beautifull places in KZ

amazing place! yes, quite difficult to find it on the gps maps but enough to buy an old fashioned map and there you go! now the name is a Kazakh one, Tanbaly. very friendly and enthusiastic guide, amazing views, even more amazing deep dive into bronze and iron ages.

Very difficult to reach without tour guide bus (cost USD$200 or more). I went solo, to reduce cost, took bus to Uzynagach and then haggled with the bus driver who then asked his nephew to drive me to Tamgaly Atass (mountain) by car for USD$70.
