- MajidNoordwijk, The Netherlands52 contributionsA good but not perfect bus companyI’ve used them to cross the border between Vietnam and Cambodia and for multiple trips within Cambodia including one sleeper bus. They’re a bit pricy but in return run a professional, reliable and service oriented bus company. Busses are in good shape, clean and comfortable to be in. Onboard stewards speak English which is very convenient for instance to let you know how long the break takes. 3 stars because we had a misunderstanding at the Cambodian border which ended up me getting a different visa than I applied for.Visited February 2023Traveled soloWritten March 25, 2023

- James O2 contributionsGreat serviceWe have been on a few Giant Ibis buses between Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Bangkok (Siem Reap and Bangkok being the best!). Each time we have travelled it’s been really good. Comfortable seats (some were fully reclining) functioning air conditioning, easy border crossing experience and friendly staff. We also got lunch free! I highly highly recommend Giant Ibis service whenever possible in Asia.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 6, 2023
- Sam V13 contributionsDisappointed. Not comfortable, broken toilet and unnecessary stops by drivers...I took the night bus from Kampot to Siem reap. We left on time however the bus was not in Great condition. The beds were very uncomfortable and only one small bottle of water given for a 10 hour trip. The company advise that the bus has one stop at phnom penh however our bus stopped on 3 other occasions during the night. At this point I'm not sure what the drivers were doing but they were gone for 20 minutes or more and left the bus open in busy local market areas. As travellers we were not offered the chance to leave the bus. The worst part was the toilet. There was no loo seat, the 'bum gun' was not working, there was no light in the toilet and the door didn't shut properly. You are not allowed to wear shoes on the bus so had to enter the toilet with no shoes on.. Not pleasant. I've travelled on ibis buses during the day and they've been great but the night bus was very disappointing.Dear Sam V, We would like to sincerely apologize for the poor-quality service you received from us. We recognize that we failed to live up to your expectations and understand how frustrated and upset you were. We would like to let you know that we were doing regularly checkup for our fleets and we also sent your complaint to the fleet department to fix it. For unannounced stop, the drivers may stop few times on the way to make time arrival adjustment if necessary to avoid early arrival time. We really appreciate your feedback that point out the mistake and we will take this into consideration of improving our quality of service. Once again, we would like to apologize and we hope you'll give us a chance to serve you again in the near future. - Soko37Budapest, Hungary4,537 contributionsFrom Saigon to Cambodia capital cityChosen based on good reviews, booking to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and back. Bus fully booked and many people waiting in small office in downtown. Bus had WiFi, air conditioning, possibility to charge the devices and few stops on the way to capital of Cambodia. We got water, snack and canned coffee. Departed in public holidays and we were slowly driving to cross Saigon border for more than one hour. Border crossing was real example of inefficiency, mess and twice more time for bus people. I was bit afraid of not having enough stops for rest room but no worry there were many including border crossing. The road in Cambodia was good except only one lane what made it slow and we were late one hour. Otherwise nice staffVisited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 29, 2023
- tim e3 contributionsIbis employees are the best!Just finished another round trip between Kampot and Phnom Penh today. Return trip to Kampot was on bus 3F-1212. The crew attendant, Sam Sokheng, was helpful, courteous and professional as always. We continue to choose Ibis because of our experience with the people who work for the company - those at the front desk selling tickets (the girl in Kampot has been so kind and helpful to us), the crew attendants on the route between Kampot and Phnom Penh (both are exemplary) and drivers (professional and safe).Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 6, 2023

Really comfortable ride with cushioned reclining seats. Air con adjustable. Free WIFI and charging ports including USB. Water, snacks and a meal provided. If travelling across borders, it takes about 20 minutes to get through visa control and immigration. The team are very friendly and professional. Giant Ibis buses are less frequent than other companies, but have far more legroom, more modern vehicles and usually better drivers. This guy in the photo went the whole trip in good time without once honking his horn or overtaking dangerously. Highly recommended.Visited June 2023Traveled soloWritten June 24, 2023

I cannot get into the bus even I buy tickets with named seats. The bus was overbooked and things escalated quite fast! I really cannot recommend this company to anyone.
We booked tickets to 12:30 PM bus from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Everything looked normal at that time, but when we get into the bus station, it turned out that the bus was full. So we didn't get into that bus at all even we had tickets. Someone was already sitting on our places. And they had no intention of letting us into the places we bought.
There were about 10 people in the same situation. Company workers explained that the original bus having more seats is broken but for sure they have had this situation for a longer time.
Initially, they tried to get out of the situation by offering a voucher. I wish I was smart enough to take the money and use it to book a private car. Unfortunately, I wasn't. I didn't want money but to get to Siem Reap.
Next, we were transported to another bus company for transportation. We got into traffic for more than an hour and a half late. But this too was a big mistake and things get even worse. The bus was old and dirty. Definitely, nothing I was expecting when I booked the tickets. It became clear that the bus also stopped at every stop. It would be a very slow way to get there.
After a half-hour of picking people, we hadn't been further than a kilometer. There were so many people in the bus that people had to sit on the plastic stool in the hallway. We get so claustrophobic that we jumped out of the bus and took a private car. I really should done that right away when things start to go wrong.
This was such a bad experience that I probably never again try to travel by bus in Cambodia. I highly recommend taking a private car instead, it's more expensive but totally worth it. Giant Ibis could have solved the problem by transporting us to the destination using a minibus (they had several in the yard), but they didn't want to provide a good customer service. Stay far away from this company.

The bus itself was fine. Small beds with pillow and blanket provided. As comfortable as you would imagine. The bus took the predicted 12 hours to arrive at the destination. However, our experience was ruined because the host on the bus recommended we book ferry tickets (to Koh Rong) with him for the same price as at the pier, and he could take us straight there and ensure we got on the selected ferry. When the coach arrived at Sihanoukville a lady from GTVC speedboat company came on to sell us tickets for the boat. We trusted to use this company as our coach driver had reassured us. At 07.40 she sold us a ticket for the 08.00 ferry and ensured us we would make this ferry as it was just a short walk away. When we got off the coach we walked down to the pier as directed by the lady who sold us the ticket. There was a huge digger lorry completely blocking the entrance to the pier and was only stopping once every 10 minutes to allow passengers to pass. Of course, we missed the 08.00 boat, so we went to the check in desk to explain (they could very clearly see the digger from where they were) and they said we should have ‘run faster’ completely ignoring the fact that we physically couldn’t have got to the pier due to the digger. We then had to wait until 11am to be put on the next ferry.
My advice would be to NOT book ferry tickets from the people on the coach, just wait to get to the pier and book the next available boat. The boats come regularly but all through different companies so if you miss one you have to wait for the next available boat with the same company.

Booked a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh, the ride was supposed to be 6 hours but ended up taking 12. Also, the guide told us we had to pay a 5USD fee to exit Vietnam, but we figured out later that only about half the bus paid it and we thought that he either kept the money or used it to bribe the guard at the customs. Finally since the bus was late and many people were at the same hostel we asked if he could drop us off closer to the hostel (Still on the original itinerary just not at the end) and he refused, but later dropped off two groups of local people straight at their hotel. Also the advertised free wifi on the bus worked only for half the ride and the bus made a constant high pitched annoying noise from one of the lights.

Tried to take a trip from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh overnight. Bus wasn’t at the “station,” which in fact was just a street where it claims to park. Bus wasn’t at the address listed on the ticket. Instead I walked around for an hour searching here and there and everywhere to no avail until I figured I should give the bus company a call. Company claimed that arriving 30 minutes before was “late” and insisted that the bus was really there. This went on until they finally admitted that the bus left early, like at 20-30 minutes before in order for passengers to “fill out forms” for the border 6 hours away.

We used this company twice as its been the best and safest service.
On this occasion we used the service to go from Phnom Penh to Kep and again faultless service.
It may be a dollar more expensive but the comfort and the safety is well worth the expense

I just did the Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh trip including border crossing, and was very happy with the experience. For context, I have just spent a month in Vietnam and travelled with quite a few local buses there (which were not in great condition in general, both for buses and the service), and compared to all that, the Giant Ibis trip was a breath of fresh air.
What I liked:
+ first and foremost, our crew attendant was excellent: proactive, explained things clearly and ahead of time, and in general friendly, polite and helpful. Everything to do with the border crossing was much smoother and faster than I expected
+ the bus was spacious (the most leg space I've seen in a long time) and the air conditioning worked very well
+ general great touches like providing water and a croissant in the morning and a coffee in the afternoon; and when it was raining upon our arrival, they took all the luggage inside the terminal while we waited in the bus for a few minutes, ensuring that both we and our luggage remain as dry as possible. It's these little touches of great service that really stood out
+ I had several questions ahead of the trip, and Giant Ibis was very responsive via WhatsApp, a matter of minutes each time
+ enough comfort breaks for toilet and coffee/snacks
+ great communication in English both by the company and during the trip
What could be improved:
- the power outlet by my seat didn't work, so I couldn't charge my phone. Not a big deal for this length of trip, but I had to be mindful of the remaining battery life
Ahead of the trip I was a little torn on the extra cost required for the visa processing (the one you pay on top of the official visa cost) because, as a matter of principle, I believe there should be an official price that everyone is held to, regardless of which checkpoint they enter or whether they do it solo or in a group. But having done the trip, it was definitely stress-free compared to taking separate buses and doing all the immigration points solo.
So all in all, if you're looking for a smooth stress-free border crossing, I recommend Giant Ibis

We took the Giant Ibis from Siem Reap to Phnom Phen and then Phnom Pen to Ho chi Minh City in Vietnam. On both trips the bus ran on time and the staff were very professional and helpful, especially getting through Vietnam customs. The bus was clean and the stops were well timed. If we were ever back n the region we would definitely use them again.

Our first trip was Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh. The bus was clean, the staff were good and offered free water and snack. The bus broke down with the air con and we were on the side of the road for 30 minutes to then carry on for an extra hour or so with no air con and wait 40 minutes at a shop/ cafe for another bus. As it was the air con and the staff dealt with the situation well we booked again to go from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. The bus was meant to leave us at their giant ibis station not far from our hotel but took us to the main terminal which was far away from the hotel and once at the station the company had taxi drivers etc... offering to take us to the hotel for extra $. We ended up contacting our hotel who sent a complimentary transport to collect us. After two attempts we won’t be using this service again.

We used Giant Ibis starting from Saigon to Phnom Penh. Then PP to Siem Reap. Our last journey was Siem Reap to Bangkok on the 11th Feb
I must say that the entire journey was excellent. We had a great final bus trip on the SR to BKK with our attendant Sopheak. Bus drivers mr Rith and Sith took turns driving on the 8 hr journey.
Sopheak looked after our Cambodia and Thai immigration needs.
Great communication along the way. Very helpful with all the passengers enquiries regarding border crossing etc..
Highly recommend Giant Ibis to anyone looking at traveling by bus.

We used Giant Ibis Transport whilst in Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City. We found them faultless. The attendants were the best, so friendly and helpful, they really did take care of us. The border crossings were so easy as they took care of the stamping of passports and also getting our visa coming back into Cambodia from Vietnam, the visa is $30 plus $5 add on for their service....well worth the money...all done whilst you can sit and have a coffee or do some duty free shopping. If you have an E-visa you have to pay $2 fee for them to process...we were very happy to pay this as it made things so easy. There were two or three stops along the way for toilets and something to eat. Each way when you embark they give you bottled water and a croissant or pastry which is very nice. The buses were clean and comfortable. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Does anyone know the best price for either tuk tuk or taxi for Phnom Penh Airport to the Giant Ibis Terminal?
Wayfaring4life

If you use the Grab App or Pass App, a taxi from downtown Phnom Penh to the airport is approx $7 USD. The Giant Ibis terminal is close to downtown so the trip should be comparable to this in cost.

Can personally confirm the EU countries are being denied at this entry, though we saw a couple from Holland get through because an agent was confused by the country name spelling on the front of their passports. Obviously not a scenario you'd want to count on.

There is no baggage restriction. They provide a bottle of water and a danish. They also stop once midway at Kampong thom provincial city for food. You can also buy snacks and drinks. Prices are reasonable, not inflated. Giant ibis fare is more expensive than other buses but they also have more legroom. For short people (smaller than 168 cm), normal buses are fine. People taller than 180 cm will definitely prefer giant ibis. Finally GI has wifi on board, but signal is poor. Good for messaging but not for streaming music or videos
