find local fruits and snacks here. rambutan only 1 per small bag, sanck and drink only 1 each. try local food and it cost you not even 5, even the basic one nasi katok only 1 dollar, already consisted of rice, fried/bbq chicken, and sweet/spicy sambal (chilli paste).

Arrived at the market after reading lots of reviews expecting to feel the vibrancy and life others have experienced... Sadly we did not. This was the first of the 'top' attractions we visited during our 10 hour layover... Arrived at the market at 10.30am Monday morning and finished looking around by 10.35! Approximately two thirds of the market stalls weren't... More

Easily accessed, this is a non-touristy open market in Bandar Seri Begawan. There are better markets elsewhere in the world but in a place like the capital city of Brunei, it is worth a visit. It is just across the river from the city centre and sells local produce like fish, vegetables and fruit. Tourists are welcome but generally ignored,... More

As we walked across the bridge to the market we were greeted with an overpowering smell of fish. But aside from fish there were also many stalls with interesting fruit and vegetables (though I have to admit I still haven't been game enough to buy or try a durian). We visited on a Friday morning and the place was buzzing... More

No joke, he just climbed down, grabbed a banana off the table and climbed back up. My kids found this very amusing.

I went to the market twice during my stay during day time. It is an eye opener as the layout and stall vibrance is a sight not seen today in many developed countries. They are many stalls displaying all kind of fresh or live items. Boats can also be seen delivering fresh food. It is a must sight seeing for... More

The vibrant Kg Kianggeh Open Air Market better known locally as Tamu Kianggeh, has been around since the 1960s. Located on the banks of the Kianggeh River, it is easy to get to - apart from getting here by road and walking across quaint arched bridges spanning the river, customers and peddlers also travel to this market on their sampans,... This market is full of characters. Despite the location, which is basically the extended car park from the large mall and hotel complex, the atmosphere is magnificently dark, smoky and friendly. The spread of ready to eat food is spectacular and expansive. Especially good atmosphere at night.

The stalls were well set up and the whole market kept very clean. Lots of fresh local produce. Worth a walk through, people / market owners were friendly and helpful.

Had been before a year ago and thought things were expensive and tired looking but this visit it was just the same. 80 cents for 2 small oranges. 10 very small bananas $1 I know the weather is hot here but everything looked like it had been out for a long time not fresh every day.
