Historic and beautiful, warm and energetic, truly heart and soul of Baku. Loved catapults and local merchants always impress you with nice souvenirs.

I started from the Governor's Square near the Four Season's Hotel then down to the Maiden's Tower. From the Old City I left from the gate opposite Fountain Square until... More

The walls have been restored to what is assumed what they looked like when built. Great attention to detail has been ensured to make it feel old and realistic as possible. You can see where the old parts pf the wall have been touched up to give them completeness. Great detail has been included, with magnificent cannons and mechanical crossbows... More

These marvellous walls give the Old City a big part of its charm. They are preserved very well and also the new constructions are made in order to avoid too much contrast with the colors and style of the walls.

Worth a visit in an otherwise soul-less city. Don't come to Baku unless you want to buy an oil well.

I felt as though we had walked back in time as I approached the city walls. It was a wonderful afternoon walk along the edge of the wall, up and down the cobblestones, in and out of shops and a Georgian restaurant...that I will remember!
