I was very impressed with the exterior of the church with its tall façade. The interior of the church was wide, but then again narrow as well, but overall extremely simple. I would have expected the interior to have been much more spectacular than I witnessed. There was a service in progress as we passed through, so we kept our... More

Our visit to Notre Dame was part of the HCM City Tour. Although it is a beautiful Roman Catholic Cathedral, there is no need to be religious to go here, you can appreciate the church's architecture, being French colonial. Go inside, look around, it really is quite beautiful.

In its time this Cathedral was the highest building in the city. In an old postcard from the early 20th century we noted it was only surrounded by trees. We understand the bricks and some material was shipped from France! Unfortunately we could not see the inside as it was closed. Very well positioned alongside the original post office, in... More

We went here as part of our city tour and would recommend a visit especially as it is right by the post office - and the architecture is beautiful and so well maintained.

Ok, if you are walking around Saigon and you don't have any plan, you can just visit this place - in any case it's a city landmark. But if you are struggling with time, don't waste it. There are nicer things to do in HCM City than visiting this Cathedral (unless you are looking for a place to pray -... More

Nice enough cathedral, very sober. Nice touch are all the plaquers with thanks on it: if your prayers are answered, you have it placed there.

Nice for photos out front but is fenced off inside with a bit if an impolite sign up for tourists saying something like, "this is for praying not looking". Thats fine but don't have it as a main tourist attraction in that case. Having a local guide with you to give a bit of its history is good tho.

Visited the Cathedral on Sunday afternoon and on Monday morning spending some 2 hours near the Cathedral but it was closed all the time so could not visit the inside. From the outside it looks ok but nothing special. The inside might make the visit special but if it is closed don't bother. Your guide might be able to take... More

Architecture wise, it is interesting to see. How well it is being preserved, so so. If you are expecting the see a fabulous interior (after all it's notre dame) to be as interesting, it is not.

There's not much really to see in the inside and you could spend 5 minutes inside and be done. But the exterior of the Cathedral is beautiful and really makes for a great photo if you're into photography. *Disclaimer: i'm not terribly religious so it does not hold any sort of special wonder for me.
