Like many of the great French buildings this hotel ended up being a government building. It is guarded by very young soldiers with weapons. Guarded why or from whom I do not know, but it seem that smiling is not a job requirement.

Even though it has the word Hotel, in french "Hotel de Ville" stands for City Hall.
And what a City Hall!! It was erected in 1901 and could be perfectly situated in France... It is known used as "Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee". In the square in front you can see a statue of Ho Chi Minh reading a...
