Agree with previous reviewers on exhibits being a rather one-sided slice of history, but still should not be missed. War history buffs will enjoy the different tanks, planes and weapons exhibited. Pictures and videos in the main building show the tragedy inflicted on the Vietnamese by the American, French and Chinese soldiers. Propaganda or not, it is still very disturbing... more

A few people here insist that the museum shows both sides. That is patently false. Like everything else in Vietnam, it is a censored and highly regulated piece of propaganda. For example, one reviewer - from Minnesota - wrote that the Tiger cages were used against the Vietnamese by Americans. That is simply wrong. These instruments of torture were employed... more

If you get queasy looking at horrific photos, then this place is not for you. Otherwise, this is an excellent collection of photos which focus on the US massacre of the Vietnamese people during the war. It's definitely "one-sided" in that they never do mention that the women and children which were killed sometimes had bombs strapped to them, a... more

I'm an american and visited the war remnants museum and was moved by what i saw, all the sick things they did these poor people and the americans had no buisness being there. Anyway right when you walk in there is so much to see but probably my favorite was the kids drawings about peace, love and no war. The... more

This museum has a sampling of military equipment outside in the way of tanks, artillery pieces. and both fixed wing and rotary aircraft. Off to the side is a model of the infamous tiger cages of Con Son Island in which prisoners of the South Vietnamese government were housed and tortured. Inside are a lot of graphic photos of injustices... more

Either you like or not the north vietnamese because they were communists, the display on this museum shows that they were not so barbarians when compared to the american troops. The museum has images (real ones) that would make a rock cry as you are shown the horrible images of destruction of a country and attacks on civilians that still... more

We got there at 7:20am (official opening time is 7:30) after an overnight train ride. Too early to check into hotel so decided to do a museum instead. The advantage of arriving early is that you miss all the crowds - we had the place to ourselves for an hour. I think that is quite important, because what you are... more

War Remmants Museum was a visually good place to learn about the Vietnamese war. A video and photographs of war victims were interesting. Many photographs were rather shocking and gruesome. It was sad to see what innocent civilians especially children had to go through during/after the war. Don't forget to check out Tiger cages just outside the main building within... more

This museum is very close to the reunification palace, within walking distance. I may have been naive, but I did not expect what I saw here. I was a bit silly I suppose because it is, after all about "war". I have heard people saying to other people not to go to the war remnants museum because it is a... more

Theres not a lot else I can say about the museum that hasnt been said in the other reviews but it is definitely worth a visit.. Although it is shocking at times its very unassuming and its interesting to see the Vietnamese side of the war from their point of view. . There is a collection of aeroplanes, helicopters, tanks,... more
