Basically, the only place I have in mind for shopping in District 1 was the Ben Thanh market, but after we checked in at our hotel, the receptionist asked us where we were to go on that evening, and strangely, she recommended us to check out the Saigon Square (it was not Ben Thanh that she recommended.. why?!@#$%) Appreciating the... My ski jacket bought 11 years ago in Walkman Village Vientiane is falling apart, so I was hoping to find its replacement in HCMC. There are heaps of unconvincing North Face gear amongst the dresses, shoes, fit flops, fake watches, smart phone cases, luggage, DVDs, etc. After 2 or 3 rounds seeing pretty much the same range, I was losing... There are two Saigon Square malls 1 and 2. I personally prefer new no 2 but this is personal preference. Goods and quality is similar. This place is about copied and fake goods. Because Vietnam produces also the clothes for wide range brands like Burbeŕry or Polo you can sometimes catch real found with original Burberry fot 20 dollars. Even... More

Cheap but Original NorthFace Bags can be found here. Just look for Anne in Stall #48. she's very friendly and can give you more discounts. I just had 1 NF Surge backpack from her since 2013 and still I use this bag on my travels. She will also teach you how to catch an original NorthFace bag from an imitation.... More

Saigon Square at Hai Ba Trung Plus points - air conditioned, less aggressive sales people, latest designs for guys Negative points - similar to Benh Tanh or Lucky Plaza Dong Khoi Did I buy any? - nope. Because of sales people's less aggressiveness and competitiveness, they stick to their prices. Hard to bargain. You miss the fun part of bargaining.... More

Saigon Square 1 seemed to be less variety than Ben Thanh Market. At least it is not hot inside and the sellers will not hassle people. There is no food or restaurant inside as I could not find one.

Still expensive in Vietnam in the scheme of things and you really need to barter cheaper. They say 'I discount for you' which is a lie. Have an idea about how much you would pay for knock off brands and DO NOT COMPROMISE. Eg: never pay more than 100,000 for sunnies etc. If they won't sell it to you, someone... More

If you are looking for cheap goods such as leather products, clothings and shoes, this is the place. But be warned that they are mostly imitation goods, therefore they are cheap. In Saigon Square you normally will not be harassed by salespersons as you will encounter in Cho Ben Thanh Market. Please ensure to bargain when doing your purchases. If... More

our luggage was delayed in transit so we went there hoping to find a swimming costume for my 9 year old daughter and some basic essentials. What a depressing experience. It was neither charming like a market or soulless but useful like a shopping mall. We came away with nothing, there were only a few stalls selling out dated clothes... More

We found that Saigon Square 1 was the best shopping area for us! It was cheap, had air con and the vendors didn't hassle you. Overall made a nice change and came back with lots of very good and cheap purchases!!
