Owner description: Warmest greetings from our Vietnam Cookery Center (VCC) , we really appreciate your interest in our cooking school.Established since 1999, we are the first and most professional Cookery Center in Vietnam, teaching Vietnamese gastronomy to Tourists and other professional visitors from all over the world. Our courses are hands-on classes, with an introduction to the food culture of Vietnam, providing you with a memorable souvenir to bring home.About our location: Our school is located in the heart of Saigon, from our large terrace you will have an unique view of an area that real estate developers call the "Golden Triangle".On top of having a wonderful initiation on Vietnamese Gastronomy, you will have the opportunity to go back in history and spend time in one of the last colonial building still erected right downtown. This building has been built in 1930 by the French, and was to be the residence of the Saigonese Elite. It was the first concrete building in Asia, and the pride of its French architect. Unfortunately he made a typical "colonial" mistake: as many French buildings in France, the space under the roof was divided into small rooms for the servants. When the building was finished and the apartments put on sale, none of the rich Vietnamese accepted to live there, as in Asia the tradition is to have only your ancestors' altar or worshiped gods over your head, not servants!

We decided to do the market visit and cooking class. Our tour guide spoke great English and showed us all around the market - pointing out interesting spices, fish, meat, you name it. The space where the cooking class was held was spacious - each of us had our own station. We started out by learning how to make spring... More

Good cooking class in a nice old building on the top floor. All recipes are shared and they will answer every question you have, even if it's not related to the recipes of that day. I would recommend this as a starting point to get familiar with the Vietnamese kitchen. It's fun, informative and you get an excellent (self prepared)... More

Really enjoyed this experience on our recent visit to Saigon. Met our guide at Ben Thanh Market, and were treated to a very informative guide around all the different market stalls, such a wonderful array of fresh fruits, fish, meats & vegetables. Back to the cookery school, where the fun began. We were taught to prepare & cook a delicious... More

Met Mrs Cam at Ben Thanh market and found we my wife and I were the only ones on the market + cooking experience that day. The market tour was informative. Mrs Cam introduced some Ingredients unseen by us and we tried some Vietnamese fruits. The class itself was fun. I made fresh spring rolls with dipping sauce, snake head... More

I really enjoyed the cooking class. It was fun and entertaining even if the chef was putting on the grumpy face - all part of an act I think! the recipe book and tips given will make it easy to recreate the meals at home. Well worth it.

A great way to end our tour of Vietnam, but I would recommend this as a starting point. The tour of the local market and introduction to the local ingredients was fabulous and would be useful at the beginning of a trip to this lovely country.

It was nice to meet people from other countries and to meet new people. Our chef was very good. The course was given to us as a present so I cannot comment on value. Over all a very good experience

Good value, good fun, definitely recommend this for an introduction to how all that yummy Viet food is made! Housed in a historic building also full of cafes and art.

this was a terrific thing to do, Cam, our market guide and cooking interpreter was terrific, as was the chef. Such a great idea to eat what you learn to cook. I would recommend to anyone.

My husband and I are absolutely enamoured with Vietnamese cuisine, particularly our favorite dishes, the fresh rice paper roll and vermicelli with grilled pork, which are the reason that we make a beeline for Ben Thanh market for brunch nearly everyday. I figured that we should learn how to make both dishes in the most authentic way that is possible,... More
