Owner description: Warmest greetings from our Vietnam Cookery Center (VCC) , we really appreciate your interest in our cooking school.Established since 1999, we are the first and most professional Cookery Center in Vietnam, teaching Vietnamese gastronomy to Tourists and other professional visitors from all over the world. Our courses are hands-on classes, with an introduction to the food culture of Vietnam, providing you with a memorable souvenir to bring home.About our location: Our school is located in the heart of Saigon, from our large terrace you will have an unique view of an area that real estate developers call the "Golden Triangle".On top of having a wonderful initiation on Vietnamese Gastronomy, you will have the opportunity to go back in history and spend time in one of the last colonial building still erected right downtown. This building has been built in 1930 by the French, and was to be the residence of the Saigonese Elite. It was the first concrete building in Asia, and the pride of its French architect. Unfortunately he made a typical "colonial" mistake: as many French buildings in France, the space under the roof was divided into small rooms for the servants. When the building was finished and the apartments put on sale, none of the rich Vietnamese accepted to live there, as in Asia the tradition is to have only your ancestors' altar or worshiped gods over your head, not servants!

A great way to end our tour of Vietnam, but I would recommend this as a starting point. The tour of the local market and introduction to the local ingredients was fabulous and would be useful at the beginning of a trip to this lovely country.

It was nice to meet people from other countries and to meet new people. Our chef was very good. The course was given to us as a present so I cannot comment on value. Over all a very good experience

Good value, good fun, definitely recommend this for an introduction to how all that yummy Viet food is made! Housed in a historic building also full of cafes and art.

this was a terrific thing to do, Cam, our market guide and cooking interpreter was terrific, as was the chef. Such a great idea to eat what you learn to cook. I would recommend to anyone.

My husband and I are absolutely enamoured with Vietnamese cuisine, particularly our favorite dishes, the fresh rice paper roll and vermicelli with grilled pork, which are the reason that we make a beeline for Ben Thanh market for brunch nearly everyday. I figured that we should learn how to make both dishes in the most authentic way that is possible,... More

We were unsure of what expect from the VCC when we booked, however the class was such a memorable and interesting experience. We opted for the market visit, which is very worthwhile and then completed the class where the standard of teaching, facilities and quality was superb. We think that this is a must see and do for your visit... More

Went on a tuesday; thus made springrolls, caramelized pork in clay pot, some kind of sour clam soup with dill and star fruit and banana dessert. The menu is different every day of the week. Start the course with a visit to the market. The visit to the marked was interesting, however, not mind blowing if you've been around some... More

My brother and I recently ttraveled to Vietnam and had all intentions of doing a cooking class. Time got away from us and in our last few days we still hadn't completed one. After speaking with a few travel agents, all their recommended classes were booked out, so we went online and booked with Vietnam Cookery Center. We were then... More

I booked into the course from my hotel on the morning and they happily accomodated me. I am familiar with the markets and Vietnamese ingredients so skipped the market tour, but others in the group commented that the tour was great if you are new to Vietnamese herbs. The Chef only spoke Vietnamese, but our English-speaking translator/facilitator was absolutely delightful,... More

Booked this at the last moment and they fitted us in. Only a small group of 5 which was great. Started with the tour of the markets which was great as I didn't know a lot about the local vegetables. The 3 dishes we cooked were fantastic. Instructions were very easy to follow and it was great that you ate... More
