I went along with my family, kids really enjoyed and me too. the old guys and playing traditional instruments was great and the coordination between their dialogues and puppet action was awesome. although the whole show was in Vietnamese so hard to guess the story-line but even then we the puppetry skills was enjoyably. In my view its a one... More

Went as part of tour. After a busy day of site seeing it was good to take the weight off your feet and sit in a cool environment. We had seats in the second row so a great view but the downside was we were also close to the water and mosquitos. I spent half the time watching the mossies... More

We went to see this but it was not worth seeing in our view. The language obviously made it impossible for us to understand the historical story being depicted. The musicians played a variety of instruments related in a remote way to violins and guitars and also shouted out the dialogue acting out each character in screeching voices which was... More

Don't really remembered how much I paid (approx. VND 160000-180000) The show lasts for slightly less than an hour. Certain scenes were really entertaining even though most of the puppet movements were repetitive. Great music to accompany the puppet show. Very comfortable seating area. If you're in the front two rows, be prepared to get slightly wet..

Understand that this is a very humble, and old, traditional, cultural activity. It is purposefully low-tech, which is what makes it charming. It involves the use of handmade puppets on sticks by puppeteers who are in the water (behind screens until the very end, when they come out to take a bow and for the audience to see them). The... This is water puppet at its best. A nice show (45 min), with many different stories, great puppets, and great fun. The quality of the material is very good and the show is very well synchronised. It's really worth going. try to get seat in the first rows.

The show was in Vietnamese but we still enjoyed it - very entertaining and unique. It will probably attract more tourists if they have an English leaflet or brochure explaining what to expect.

This is a must see show when in Saigon. It's about 45 mins and very interesting and fun for the whole family. The traditional water puppets (which have existed since the 11th century) tell stories of the history of and life in Vietnam. Although narrated in Vietnamese, it is not difficult to understand the stories. The children really enjoyed it and... More

Traditional Vietnamese water puppet show. We saw one here and also at the more famous theatre in Hanoi. The performance was much better here. The theatre is a little run down, but the overall experience was excellent!
