This is one of the must see's in Vietnam. How do they do it? I do not know but it was a wonderful experience and filled with fun and wonder. I was a child again with the color and the strange movement in puppets I had never seen before. Do not miss this or you have missed the mystical world... More

I stumbled upon this Vietnamese treasure, and I'm so glad I did! Don't worry if you don't know any Vietnamese! You'll still really enjoy it! For more details as well as information about access, tickets, and the nearby buffet that you can get with your ticket, check out my blog post about my experience - http://www.trekkingwithbecky.com/a-vietnamese-treasure-a-water-puppet-show/

You should really take a front seat to fully enjoy the performance. We didn't understand what the singers were singing about but the performance was fun to watch.

It was an authentic and cultural show for us. It was fun to watch the show. I managed just about to figure out what was going on my watching on the actions and beats/ sound effects by actors n instruments. It would be great if I knew the native language or the story which would make it even more entertaining!

The music is a little loud and everything is in Vietnamese but you can rather easily follow the story line of the 15 or so short vignettes depicted by the puppets. The thing to appreciate is the strength and craftsmanship involved in maneuvering these wooden creatures under water and at quite a distance from the puppeteers. We were told it... More

Once we found the place ( taxi dropped us at wrong place) glad we did. Whilst all in Vietnamese it is not difficult to work out the story and it was a good spectacle for all ages. Only lasted about 50 mins, lots of singing and splashing and as said, I liked it and so did my two year old!

We recently visited Saigon with some friends who were experiencing their first visit to Vietnam. My wife and I have seen the water puppets before in Hanoi but we left feeling the Golden Dragon experience was superior. I think the more intimate setting of this Theatre gives the viewer a more enjoyable experience, as you are able to fully immerse... More

I was sceptical about seeing them, thinking it was more for children but really enjoyed the performance. I'd never seen water puppets before and think that they are definitely worth seeing at least once in a lifetime. I'll go again to water puppets elsewhere.

I have been going to Saigon many times and I have always managed to not visit this place because I thought it will be boring. But this time, I am traveling with a friend who is teacher and she wanted to see it. The water puppet show is 45 mins of fun entertainment. The whole dialogue is in Chinese (I... More

Water puppetry originated in the north of Vietnam. Since I've not seen the show in Hanoi, I can't really make a comparison. However, from what I did see, it was an interesting enough experience. For one thing, it involves a colourful stage (with music and song performed by live musicians) and a body of murky-looking water (presumably representing the Mekong... More
