It is so hard to explain this show. I'm not sure how something can be so interesting and yet so boring at the same time. The show is about an hour though so at least it doesn't go on for too long. I kept thinking it may get better... but it stayed at about the same pace throughout. It's not... More

I suggest that everyone see this show. It only takes 45 minutes and if you are curious like I was...check it out. I think this water puppet performance must be unique in SE Asia so it gives some cultural insight. It is only 100 dong if you buy tickets at the theatre...many show times available throughout the day. The live... More

We missed out chance to watch Water Puppet show when we visited Ho Chi Min, so this time we have to do it! So excited to wee it but it just last 10 min for me.... hahahhahaa!!! Not so sure either the show really bored me or i'm just too tired after perfume pagoda day trips. But that's the fact,... More

The skill of the puppeteers has to be admired, even more so when all is revealed at the end of the show. There is a running commentary through out the performance which at times confused us...but I guess without it we would have been even more confused. Try to sit in the front two rows of seats if possible as... More

We heard mainly good reviews about this so thought it was worth checking out. The show is clever and you also learn information about Vietnam from the narrators. Be warned though I am only 5" 6 and I struggled to sit comfortably! Also make sure you boo early as sells out in advance.

Cleverly done, but best if seated near the front. Use of screen to translate into English what is being said makes it more interesting.

The puppet show lasts about one hour and it is broken down into a number of small camios which are explained on screens at each side of the 'stage'. If you can it is best to get a seat as close to the front as possible because there are lots of insensitive people who don't seem to care about obstructing... More

From my chats with Vietnamese living in Hanoi, I conclude that Water Puppet Theatres, especially this one, are held in considerable esteem. I think it is a cultural phenomena. I found it okay, more entertaining that I expected, but I would not go again.

It is incredible how clueless most visitors to Hanoi are about how to find the best water puppet show in town. This one is not it. Put on for masses of tourists each day, this is but a watered down version of the real thing. It is not bad -- but far from excellent, but everyone goes down to the... More
