First visit the famous Chau Long Market, then take your wares back to the kitchen to prepare a meal, perhaps street food, traditional Hanoian dishes or coastal cuisine. If you don't want to cook, a five-hour tour of street food and other venues ends with Vietnamese tea and dessert.

This cooling class taking by Mr Hau was really in depth and a lot of fun. We were able to have a go at everything and some of the recipes I would definitely do at home in NZ. Mr Hau is a talented individual that does the Hanoi Cooking Centre proud.

My partner and I did this together and we had a lot of fun!! The lovely gentleman who looked after was funny and very good! We even taught him a couple of words. We would do this again when we revisit hanoi in the future

I would suggest everybody arriving to Hanoi to book this tour and please do not have breakfast that day ! First visit just oposite Hanoi Cooking Centre, the sublime Pho Ga. Tuan our guide explained every detail. Second stop in the Chau Long Market. More knowledge about about what the vietnamese buy and what you can find in the market.... More

I've taken a lot of cooking class and even have taught some, so I was looking for a hands on experience that goes beyond pho and lemongrass chicken. The centre delivered with a coastal region class with four dishes, a market tour and lots of guided hands on work and plenty of time to answer questions. Market guide Hau was... More

While a touch on the costly side at $59 for a morning's session (including all the food, of course), this is still one of the best hands-on cooking classes I've taken. On consecutive mornings, I took the Northern food cooking class and the Hanoi street food tour. You start with a half-hour tour of a wet market (-quite typical by... More

Sensational introduction to market shopping and Vietnamese street food. The market was fascinating and informative. The freshness of the food could not be compared to my town. Other interesting handy tips and local medicinal knowledge was imparted, such as how to check for good fish sauce and methods of cleaning teeth. Then, back to cook up a storm. We did... More

But not so great if you do this after having spent a few days in Vietnam or Hanoi. The street food tour is most informative during your first couple days in the city. Our guide was very friendly and helpful. The wet market was good to see but not unlike any other wet market in the world.

What an experience! First up ... a guided tour of the local market. Totally out of my "normal" Australian market. All manner of food offerings . frogs, dogs, beef, sheep, vegetables, herbs, chicken. Friendly, patient vendors. Clean, noisy. Bargaining over the price of chicken testicles? I asked .. do you mean "intestines" and pointed or "testicles" and pointed. After much... More
