I've taken a lot of cooking class and even have taught some, so I was looking for a hands on experience that goes beyond pho and lemongrass chicken. The centre delivered with a coastal region class with four dishes, a market tour and lots of guided hands on work and plenty of time to answer questions. Market guide Hau was... More

While a touch on the costly side at $59 for a morning's session (including all the food, of course), this is still one of the best hands-on cooking classes I've taken. On consecutive mornings, I took the Northern food cooking class and the Hanoi street food tour. You start with a half-hour tour of a wet market (-quite typical by... More

Sensational introduction to market shopping and Vietnamese street food. The market was fascinating and informative. The freshness of the food could not be compared to my town. Other interesting handy tips and local medicinal knowledge was imparted, such as how to check for good fish sauce and methods of cleaning teeth. Then, back to cook up a storm. We did... More

But not so great if you do this after having spent a few days in Vietnam or Hanoi. The street food tour is most informative during your first couple days in the city. Our guide was very friendly and helpful. The wet market was good to see but not unlike any other wet market in the world.

What an experience! First up ... a guided tour of the local market. Totally out of my "normal" Australian market. All manner of food offerings . frogs, dogs, beef, sheep, vegetables, herbs, chicken. Friendly, patient vendors. Clean, noisy. Bargaining over the price of chicken testicles? I asked .. do you mean "intestines" and pointed or "testicles" and pointed. After much... More

We attended Tracey Lister's Hanoi Cooking Centre as part of our Intrepid tour and it was an excellent experience. The chefs were very friendly, demonstrating the preparation of a dish to completion, before we paired up to replicate the dish. This process was repeated for each dish and we were able to ask lots of questions and see how things... More

We read reviews of several cooking schools looking for ones that would allow us to either do an all seafood or all vegetarian menu, and for ones with good reputations. Hanoi Cooking Centre had great reviews and had vegetarian and seafood options, so we had our hotel call and see if they could arrange an afternoon cooking class and market... More

After Looking for a good cooking class that gives you the market tour and intresting dishes ,we booked this class a day before ...and we are so happy. The market tour was just the right time, learning new things we yet did not know (even after two weeks in Vietnam ). The class was an interactive class where you cook... More

As Hanoi was our first stop on our three week Vietnamese holiday we thought we should join the Hanoi Cooking Centre for a market visit and cooking class. What a great decision! We met up at the Hanoi Cooking Centre at the agreed time (a very short walk from our hotel) and were greeted warmly and offered a cooling glass... More
