the teachers were amazing (one english guy and one vietnamese girl). very well explained. the cocktails you will composed (4 in totals) are just perfect and tasty. they are all based on a special alcohol from vietnam (that you can buy after the class). We loved the cocktail class. We had a 5 cocktail course based on son tinh spirits. We also had vietnamese snacks we never tried before, but it was excellent. We didn't have any experience with cocktails but it was probably one of the best thing we did in Hanoi.

Son, our guide, is a really nice guy and we had fun chatting with him so I feel bad speaking poorly of this experience. BUT, the class was not a good cooking class. Son is not a cook, which he even said. Two of the three dishes weren't good. One was completely inedible. There was lots of waiting around as... More

I loved my cooking class. The market tour and cyclo tour were a blast and very informational. My guide Son was informed, funny and had excellent English. THe class introduced basic recipes and was very hands on. The cook was patient and clear in his instruction, and talking and sampling liquor with my guide was a great was to under... More

After spending a few months feasting on Highway4's legendary Catfish Spring Rolls, my wife and I decided to learn how to make them for ourselves. The day started with a 'cyclo' trip through the Old Quarter which was fantastic in the morning bustle. Then our guide, Son, took us for an adventure around a local market. I'm not much of... More

We started with a cyclo ride through the streets of Hanoi then on to the markets where our guide from Highway 4 Restaurant showed us all sorts of interesting Vietnamese foods such as live crabs, frogs, snake head fish, snails, goose eggs, fresh meat of all kinds, chickens, ducks, tofu, fresh vegetables and bamboo. The markets were crowded with shoppers and... We took a 4 hour class with Highway 4 in Dec 2011. The guide (sweet university boy with great English) and the chef were great. The location was beautiful overlooking the West Lake and the price included taxi there and back from central city location, as well as market tour. We made three delicious dishes and wore really cool chef's... More
