Worth putting up with Hanoi to see Halong Bay

Going by the amount of building going on around Halong Bay plus plans for a future cable car, this will be the place to stay at in the long term. It's a bumpy three hour ride from Hanoi with a stop half way at a huge tourist hall full of Vietnamese trinkets. The other stop is the Pearl factory just... More

We took a package tour from Hanoi, included bus transfer to and from Halong Bay, overnight cruise, all meals, lunch, dinner, breakfast, lunch, and activities. The boat was old, comfortable and cabins clean, and well serviced. Staff very friendly, with attention to safety at all times. we enjoyed the activities which included kayaking to see monkeys, swimming and hiking, visited... More

The drive along smooth roads. Secure. Long with breaks at arty marble sculptures and handy art areas. The bay efficient ticketing system and very well priced for its value. Great boat ride around the geographical scenic features in the bay, Cave structures visit after a light meal on board. Kayak or small boat ride under and amongst caves. Evening into... More

Booked an overnight trip with Halong Bay Tours on the Majestic boat- and it reached my expectations and more. The bedrooms were 1st class and large. The tour guide Mau was excellent and so were the staff on the boat. Food was fab and plentiful and the kayaking, caves, fishing all added to the whole experience. Wished I could have... More

I am interested in the natural scenery of the countries I visit so I enjoyed my cruise in Halong Bay, unfortunately we did it in a day trip from Hanoi, this involves a longish drive to Halong and, for me, not enough time cruising the bay. As it was a wet day I did not see the scenery at its... More

A four and a half hour journey in a minibus, is not my idea of a good time! Even with a comfort break half way, I was never more pleased to get out of a vehicle and said to my wife, this had better well be as good as it's cracked up to be. We were lucky. Many of our... More

Personally thinks that a) Day Tour - would be sufficient if you just wish to see the mesmerizing landscape where lunch included. Kayak or riding a sampan, visiting sung sot cave. b) 2 days 1 night - spending 3.5 hours to halong bay from hanoi and vise versa. The itinerary is the same as the day tour but with sleeping... More

We had a fantastic time on our lovely cruise! Ginger is in superb condition throughout, with high quality food and a slick itinerary. Amazing staff will do anything to make your trip more enjoyable. Most people do a one night tour but we could not resist doing two nights. Unexpectedly we experienced an island cycling tour, ancient village visit and... More

I think that I may have really put WAY too much expectation on this. I wasn't disappointed but I also wasn't blown away. Our tour guide was lovely and I loved seeing the cave and getting into the canoe. I don't know if I would do the 3.5hr drive from Ha Noi to Halong Bay if I went again. The... More
