Dodgy buffet lunch, and hassled for tips, otherwise great.

Beautiful rice fields, wonderful river tour seeing a lot of duckies swimming by your boat. It's great fun to cycling in between rice fields and lotus ponds. What a amazing experience for city people like me B-)

Hoa Lu should be visited with a guide who can explain the history and significance of the temples - otherwise its just more temples. Tam Coc, called the "inland HaLong Bay is very beautiful. This is a 1.5 - 2 hour row boat tour on the river and through caves. Bring proper attire - it can downpour and it can... More

Two tours in one! Fantastic! It was a cultural extravagant. We had a phenomenal guide from our hotel (Essence Hotel) named Singh. He was incredibly knowledgeable and warm! Tam Coc was amazing as we went down the river paddled leg wise by a woman. Feel free to tip your boat paddler a couple of dollar, and free to by a... More

We went on this trip because our cruise in halong bay was cancelled due to bad weather. First stop was "hoa lu", it could have been left out. If you are in Vietnam you have, or will, probably see enough temples elsewhere. The boat trip however was very nice. It takes between one and two hours, depending on your rower.... More

I have done this trip two times. I just love getting away and I love river cruises, so this is perfect. It is a tourist destination, so be prepared to be hit on by merchants..but just politely say no and move along. The scenery is beautiful. I prefer sunny days, but cloudy days are also very nice...and cooler.

The tour was great. Hoa Lu was interesting. The ladies rowing our boats with their legs up the river in the most picturesque valley & through caves was surreal (Even in the downpour of rain we had). This was marred only by the attitude of our rower when we gave her a fair tip at the end- she said it... More

I particularly enjoyed the bicycle ride around the padi fields and enjoyed the scenery. The boat ride was also very interesting.

This was OK the Tam Coc karst formations and the caves were peaceful and relaxing m the weather was so hot and humid it was a shame that we couldn't have completed this part of the tour early in the morning , it would have been so much more relaxing and enjoyable. The cycle in the afternoon was not relaxing... More

It was an incredibly hot day so going around the temples in Hoa Lu wasn't that much fun. We stopped over somewhere for a buffet lunch and did the bike ride afterwards. There were some members of our tour group that didn't do the bike ride which I thought was such a loss since I felt it was the best... More

The capital of Vietnam (or part of it) back in the 10th & 11th centuries in Ninh Binh province, there are really only a few temples or small buildings like those left in this place about an hour and a half's drive south of Hanoi. Didn't see any statue of Buddha in the few temples there, just those of some... More
