This tour was not in my initial plan but I had another day to spare in Hanoi so I told my hotel to assist in arranging for a day tour to Hoa Lu Tam Coc and I am glad I did! After about 2 hours of bus ride, we arrived at Hoa Lu district, where it used to be the... More

The place is really beautiful. It is 2HRS from Hanoi. There are total 3 places / activites.First we visited the king's old residence. The place is just so so to me as in Msia there are many temples, very similar cultures. Next we went gor our buffet lunch. It was not so good, it is not as tasty as we... More

It was an experience well spent especially the boat ride in the river seeing those caves and ricefield or swamps? Only negative side was that it was a long ride (2.5 hrs or 3) one way and the bus they used for us is small as we were seated in the adjustable seat in the middle aisle..so uncomfortable for us... It was an extremely hot day, but was enjoyed very much. When we arrived after a 4 hour trip, we had a buffet, with mainly traditional food and some Western food. It was tasty and filling!. We then went to see the Temples, which is always interesting to us. We got an opportunity to sit on a Bison and sit... More

Great place to visit and take photos, only negative ( and you can not blame them for trying to make a living) was freelance photographers taking your photos without your request then turning up 5 minutes later trying to sell you laminated photos that they have just taken of you.

The visit to Hoa Lu was interesting and it is well-preserved. As most others on this forum have said, we learnt a lot about Vietnamese (Chinese?) history from this visit. It is worth the trip although it's quite a distance from the city. Tam Coc was pretty. It makes you feel like you're in the scenic parts of China. The... More

In our holiday in Vietnam, we visited Hoa Lu - Tam Coc, Halong Bay on land. This is one of our favourite tours showing how beautiful and productive Vietnam is. We spent a full day to Ninh Binh, around 2 hours driving from Hanoi. Our driver and guide are very lovely and funny. We enjoyed the rowboat, paddy fields, caves... More

We were so excited on our first day in Vietnam and headed off on this tour organised by our accommodation. The longish bus ride was so interesting for us as every thing was new and exciting. We looked at a temple complex first for a king that was relaxing, untrusted and great photo opportunities. Downside hassled relentlessly by hawkers. Our... More

Despite the scorching hot sun,we enjoyed the sampan river ride and the scenery was breathtaking . Was amazed on how our rower rowed using her feet the entire 2 hours. Hoa Lu was very informative tour to fill the gaps of my knowledge of Vietnam.Worth the time.
