Thank you Tihn and Blue Butterfly staff...now my husband can select foods at wet markets and cook spring rolls. We had a great experience going to the local Hanoi food markets and with the help of Tihn we selected ingredients to cook GREEN PAPAYA SALAD, HANOI SPRING ROLLS AND CHICKEN WITH LEMON GRASS AND CHILLI. Tihn also explained how the... More

We have just finished our cooking class with Tinh at the Blue Butterfly. It was so much fun and Tinh was a great host. The price of this experience was very reasonable and included a taxi to the restaurant and we cooked four dishes - hanoi spring rolls, green papaya salad, stir fried chicken with lemon grass and chilli and... Just back from my cooking class in Blue Butterfly. Thank you Tinh and Chef, you made my day!! My package was a 3 hours cooking class with a local market tour guided by Tinh before the class. It's always fun to hang around the local market where you can see the real life of a city. Not to mention that... More

We were lucky enough to do a cooking class on our own. I think we may have had the apprentice chef but he was very good. We had an interpreter assist with the communication. We cooked rice paper rolls, a Vietnamese salad and then a chicken stir fry dish. We also learnt some decorative skills with a tomato and carrot.... More

Interpreter Mr Tins and our Chef prepared a wonderful experience for us in the Blue Butterfly. You will be open to asking any questions you can think to get detailed explanations and answers from Mr Tins. The Chef will also show you how to create delicate food decorations you can practice on the spot. The market visit was informative and... More

My family wanted to do a cooking class and looked around at a few choices most are quite expensive and seem to industriualized. We settled on the Blue Butterfly which was reasonably priced and had a great time. When we met at the Blue Butterfly restaurant they arranged for a taxi to take us to the Countryside Restaurant where the... More

Unfortunately we (plus the two others with us) were disappointed by this course, mainly because we learned very little. The range of dishes were not particularly exciting or varied, and the guide was a hopeless teacher. We did a course for a very similar amount (US$30) in Thailand and this one compared poorly . The trip to the market did... More

And buy a Vietnamese cookbook instead. That is worth 30 USD not this. Very basic and simple. I enjoyed it but will not recommend and will not do it again if given a choice. If you ask me I'd rather pay $20 or less for this.

I had booked an organized tour of Northern Vietnam, after being the only person on the tour I decided to spend my last full day in Hanoi enjoying the art of learning how to cook the fantastic foods I had been eating for the past week and a half. When I arrived in the morning I discovered again I was... More

Booked ahead via e-mail, and I was offerd a free hotel pick up, which was a nice start. Our chef took us to the local market and explained different vegetables, spices and rice papers to us. Back at the restaurant we made our green papaya salad, spring rolls and a stir fry chicken dish. The food was very tasty, and... More
