Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands. « less

I can understand why Halong Bay is such a must-see attraction. We visited on a cloudy, rainy morning. On the coach we were very pessimistic about the disappointing weather, but once we arrived at the bay it was still as beautiful as we could have hoped. Of course, the sky was cloudy and it was pretty misty but the view... More

Halong Bay is simply a must when visiting Vietnam. I chose to take a 2 night cruise along the Halong bay and saw caves, floating pearl farm, and floating fish villages. I also had an opportunity to go kayaking which was amazing!

This is a great sea cruise. The Karst limestone formation are exceptional and so are the stories that go with them. Halong Bays islands have confused Chinese invaders, hidden the Vietnamese during the war and been home to fishers and their families for centuries. On our amazing three day cruise on the beautiful little Princess we visited, caves, pearl farms,... More

Halong Bay was definitely on my list of places to visit during my trip to Vietnam. The amount of tour providers is overwhelming though. I had a hard time going through TripAdvisor reviews to identify which cruise to choose. I ended up asking the concierge team at InterContinental Hanoi for help and they recommended Indochina Sails for my Halong tour.... More

We booked Syrena Cruise through Brilliant Halong Cruises agency and got excellent experience. We reserved Double Private balcony cabin on 2nd floor. The cabin got a good size and a balcony was great. We enjoyed food and amazing activities as well. But you have to prepare for 4 hours from Hanoi to Halong Bay :)

(I just finished traveling around Indonesia and Vietnam for two and a half weeks with extended family consisting of 26 people - 13 adults and 13 kids, including my 4 month old) I have now visited the three places known for limestone karsts; Yangshuo China, Krabi Thailand, and here. Vietnam's one of the last countries I've visited in Asia and... More

This is one thing that you have to do while in Vietnam. The best experience during my 2 week roundtrip for sure, even if it was during december and a bit cold and cloudy. Sitting on deck just passing all the rocks in the ocean is really peaceful and it was great food onboard too!

We had a pleasant cruise in Halomg Bay though our guide was too rigid and focused on fulfilling the program and respecting the schedule instead of follow the mood of the group. Overall we had good time, food was excellent and boat was a good deal for money, though almost no time to enjoy it as a couple which was... More

The scenery is jaw droppingly stunning. Cool and tranquil. Plenty to do. We went in a local row boat into some of the caves, climbed up a mountain into an amazing cave where some of the Vietnamese hid during the war, swam at Cat Ba Island and enjoyed the cool tranquility of the area.

Spent out time in Halong Bay in few days ago on Paloma Cruise that recommend by the agency, we booked Family private balcony cabin on 2nd floor and our trip was vey pleasant. The boat was large and there are about 20 cabins( i think), they offered to many food on boat with lovely and tasty Vietnamese food. The weather... More
