Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

Nice scenery

Nice scenery, but rather commercialised. There are many boats in Halong Bay and "traffic" can be quite bad.

Just around four hours drive from Hanoi, Capital of Vietnam, lies a place e which has few parallels in the world. May it be well stocked markets, a walk along the bay or going inside the bay and then disembarking on a beautiful Iceland with amazing caves and lights around. It is an experience beyond words. The city has good... More

This was our first experience at Ha Long and overnight on a boat. From the moment we met Kevin and Maggie at our hotel in Hanoi until Kevin escorted us back to our hotel in Hanoi your guides were they faultless. Their attention to detail, command of English, ability to communicate and put our whole party at ease was terrific.... More

Enjoyed our great trip that booked through BRILLIANT HALONG CRUISES and we got a great cruise that derserve what we paid for. They prepared great transfer and professional tour guide and mineral water for free on transfer as well. Our cabin was on upper floor with great ocean view and lovely bed that made our sleep tasty. Kayaking was extremely... More

We stayed one night on a cruise boat at the start of a tour of Vietnam. Well worth the long drive from Hanoi. Our boat was impressively well appointed, with huge beds, en suite shower & air-conditioning. The welcome was warm, staff efficient (and safety conscious too, each time we disembarked onto tenders for transfer to islands). Our boats were... More

We did a two day, one night cruise and were feed like kings. The boat was great and the cabins surprisingly spacious. We upgraded to a room with a spa which gave us more space, but our kids had the standard room which was excellent as well. The weather wasn't great but we still had a great time.

The surprise cave is so amazing with many beautiful stalagmites & stalactites with many exciting story about that. Kayaking under sunset will be great fun, you can do it by yourself to explore...
