Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

Halong Bay is so beautiful in my eyes and we enjoyed our cruise holiday by choosing our cruise through Brilliant Halong Cruises website. Luxury van picked us up in the morning and it took around 4 hours to get there and we were welcome onboard by fresh drinks and people were very friendly and welcoming. The best cuisine of Vietnam... Halong was polluted, busy and just horrid! I was not a fan. It's not as peaceful as you imagine thanks to the hundreds of boats all over the bay.... I would give it a miss. I would really suggest you go to Cat Ba Island and find a boat tour there for Lan Ha Bay. We ended up on a... More

It took us over 4 hours from Hanoi but the journey was worth it! A beautiful attraction and a experience to remember.

We could have spent more time here, over 1000 islands and caves and fresh fish, quite the breathtaking place. Loved the day markets filled with fresh produce and seafood and flowers, incredible! The Vietnamese people work so hard

You need to spend at least one night on Halong Bay. It is a stunning location, and lived up to our expectations. Watching the sunset over the bay, then the lights of the other boats at night was magical. We went kayaking into a scluded lagoon with monkeys playing on the shore. A cave walk was included on our overnight... More

If you go to Halong Bay don't forget to visiting Sung Sot Cave around the area. It was so beautiful !! Also go to the beach and climb as high as possible to see the stunning Halong Bay from above. Recommended if you explore Halong Bay by cruise.

Ha Long Bay is a majestic place and somewhere I have always wanted to visit and it didn’t disappoint. I can highly recommend the Red Dragon junk for a tour 1 or 2 day definitely. Good food, service and great crew. Top tour Guide is Leo.

Went on a private group cruise for the whole day cruising the Bay before lunching on the boat. Then the most amazing caves were explored well illuminated to highlight the best features. Very clean and tidy .
