Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

We booked 3 cabins on a modern cruise through Brilliant Halong Cruises website and all were arranged quickly and safely but unfortunately we could not for 3 days cruise due to bad weather and changed to 2 days/ 1night and they called us and refunded the balance and asked for our thought. We were a bit confused for weather but... More

Halong Bay is a touristic but it's still be an amazing place (special landscape and peaceful atmosphere). I had visited Halong several time during last 2 years but I still love it (I work for a travel company). However, it's was affected by weather, especially in summer. Sometimes you get the pier but cannot go to the bay because the... More

What a breathtaking Unesco World Heritage Site. Ensure that you stay overnight in on the ships otherwise you will miss out "Amazing Caves" which is a truly a wonder of the world. Thank you France for discovering the place. Ps. Day cruises do not cover "Amazing Caves" so be aware.

Me and my friends reserved a modern cruise via Brilliant Halong Cruises website. We spent 2 nights on boat and got many things to do and see. They cooked great Vietnamese food for us at meals on boat and vegan food for our friends as well. Halong Bay is the most highlight place we visited in the north of Vietnam.

I can honestly say that the phrase "takes you breath away" definitely applies here. Absolutely gorgeous scenery and calm waters. Kayaking around the huge stone pillars will stay with me forever. Would love to come back one day. A "must do" on any travellers list.
