Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands. « less

This was a day trip on an organized tour. Overall very good and comfortable trip and a long day. Halong Bay itself is worth visiting even just for a day because of it's natural beauty. Some of the rock formations are fantastic for a photographer.

haling bay is nothing like the postcards you will see. it's even more beautiful. if you don't have days on your vietnam itinerary to go, chop it off from somewhere else. haloing bay will fill you with a sense of awe, wonder and happiness. as you cruise the waters surrounded by small mountains - or are they islands- dotted around... We spent one night on board the Imperial junk boat which was very enjoyable. The three and a half hour trip from Hanoi to Haling bay was filled with beautiful scenery of the countyside. The tourist centre was busy with people disembarking and embarking although quite organised. There are some shops to buy some last minute snacks. Our cruise began... More

We spent quite a while trying to research which tour company to go with but just ended up even more confused as there are so many, all seemingly offering quite similar itineraries. In the end we just walked into a tour shop and booked the one they offered (with Papaya) which seemed to be an average price for a mid-range... More

I did 2 days on the boat which included tutorial on how to make vietnamese rolls, kayaking, squid fishing, pearl farm and lots of beers and delicious food. I would recommend doing 1 night on boat and 1 night in bungalow as 2 nights on boat was a bit same so i did miss out but still had a lot... More

Went there and stayed overnight at the cruise booked for roughly US$ 140. The bay gives inner peace and wonderful during sunset / sunrise. Cave visit plus kayaking around floating village while meeting some of the locals. It was a good experience and I highly recommend this place as it is one of the highlights of Vietnam.

The operational manager mr. Kim is a scammer! He took our money for a specific 3 star cruise (we have a specific confirmation) but without ANY notification in advance he had put us on a much cheaper 2 star boat, only to be find out when we were picked up by a shuttlebus from another company:(. Now he/they are ofcourse... More
