Type: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Owner description: Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

Just returned from the Paloma Halong Bay cruise and must say.. the boat looks a little tired. The crew is awesome and attentive, but I would say it is most likely similiar to most of the boats in the bay. I am not sure.how other tours are. but our tour was like a shuttle service where they line you up... More

This is the reason everyone comes to this city. You have to take a boat tour of the Bay. There are a massive number of tour boats to chose from. Naturally, you want to chose a clear day with good weather prospects.

Breathtaking views and scenes. It is just so beautiful. Jump on one of the big boats and take a tour around the Bay. Stop and go cannoing and rock climbing and have breakfast on the boats. Every corner you turn is different and more amazing. It is a must see. Get a bus from Hanoi to HaLong bay. Takes a... More

We took an one day boat tour to visit Halong Bay, the floating village and the caves. It was perfect, beautifull place, amazing food on the boat and friendly staff to help you with everything. Thousands of islands of different forms, so bring your câmera and enjoy it.

My husband, my son and myself had a lovely day trip with Palamo. There was only one other couple with us and we had a great time. Our tour guide, Anh, (apologies if spelt incorrectly) was fantastic and told of the history of Halong - so interesting. We visited quite a few caves and must have been there on a... More

We have seen pictures of this place all our lives and hear about the 7 wonders of the world ratings. I don't know if it was the polluted haze or litter in the water, but I had a hard time appreciating this place. Perhaps the distances made it difficult but the jagged cliffs are indeed a site. City is a... More

The entire trip was excellent. From start to finish. Luckily the weather was very agreeable however a bit chilly.. But, perfect for taking photos. The boat sailed about noon from the Halong Bay dock area. It's obviously become big business because there were large groups of tourists embarking on other tours at the same time. We booked the suite cabins... More
