Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

Spent a few days sailing around Halong Bay and while this really is a beautiful place, it was crowded and the water was a poor quality. Came out of the water after a swim itching due to the amount of pollutant in the water, dead fish, etc. Maybe I just was on a 'junk' that did the popular routes but... More

I was reading reviews on Ha Long Bay and cruises thereon, and I noticed what to me is a glaring omission regarding emissions. But more of that later. I mention it because it was a couple of years ago that we went, but I don't suppose much has changed since. The term "junk" is rather loosely used in Halong Bay.... More

Halong Bay really is stunning and certainly worth seeing, but just don't under any circumstances book a tour. The best way to see it is by public ferry which costs a fraction of the price and you won't get stuck on a cheesy party boat. We requested a none party boat and still ended up on one. Within the trip... More

Our 2 day overnight tour in our premium cabin was to be the highlight of our Vietnam holiday. After 8 days of unbearable heat in other places, we were greeted with a cool change after we arrived at the Marina. After boarding and settling into our glorious room on the boat we headed out, however shortly after finishing lunch we... More

Just completed a three day two night cruise on Halong Bay which was devine. Halong Bay is truely picturesque with spectacular scenery and a grounding reality of how locals live. We embarked on Paradise Luxury (number 2 boat) which was managed by a very professional Mr Trong Nguyen. Everything on board this vessel was fantastic, accomodation, program and the staff.... More

This was definitely a highlight of our holiday in Vietnam. A big hello to the crew of Paradise One for making our trip awesome. The cabin, service, food and hospitality was brilliant. Add all of that to some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth and here's an experience we will never forget.

Nature at its best. On a recent overnight cruise, the waters of the Bay was tranquil. The feeling of peace and serenity comforts the soul and lets you release all your stress. At night, it rained. Nothing could describe the beauty of the skies as thunder and lightning dance and played its orchestra. An unforgettable trip.
