The scenery of Halong Bay is extraordinary. But you don't get to enjoy too much of it on this trip. It takes about half a day to get there, leaving at 6 am. And our British guide... read more

First off I want to say that Ha long bay is one on the most beautiful places in the world I have ever been too, and although all of the activities I was told were free while booking the trip were not free (except kayaking) I had an awesome day and a half on the castaway tour (when told it... More

I visited this island while kayaking past and thought I'd stop for a break. I saw there were all these backpackers at the table and so I bought a sprite and when I paid 20,000 dong for it the guy (obviously the manager) said "you stay five minutes then you go!". The was clearly rude and whilst I didn't stay,... More

I agree castaways is about getting drunk but that's the best way to make friends! I think it was worth every penny, I had the most hilarious 2 days. Yeah the accommodation isn't the best but the whole point is that you're on castaways! Our guides Mickey and Kyle were awesome and I can honestly say I've made friends for... More

Best couple of nights we have had for a long time but you need to be prepared to get boozy. All the guides are sound but Kyle and Justin are legends. Prepared to be hanging!

The scenery of Halong Bay is extraordinary. But you don't get to enjoy too much of it on this trip. It takes about half a day to get there, leaving at 6 am. And our British guide was already drunk at that point. This set the tone for the rest of the 3 day, 2 night trip. Don't get me... More

This is a party boat so if you want an early night then its probably not for you! It was well organised, the accomodation was surprisingly good and the food wasnt bad. Visited some caves, went kayaking, to the beach/monkey island. Read some reviews saying they didnt see much of Halong Bay, not sure why?? The 'free' bar was only... More

First off I am only writing this as I feel the trip is so poorly mis-sold that people need to be made aware of it. You leave the hostel at 7am for a 2 and a half hour coach to a port, then a 45 minute boat trip, another hour on a coach and then yet another 45 minute boat... More

Online, on the notice boards and on the leaflets, Halong Bay Castaways advertise this trip as 'Awesome food- kayaking- rock climbing- high speed tubing- swimming etc etc'... only at the end mentioning 'party!'. So myself and two friends decided to go as it seemed a good way to explore and relax in Halong Bay with the option to do activities,... More

Halong Bay is beautiful, but the Castaway trip was not a good way to see it. Unless you took the kayaks out yourself, the only time we saw any of the scenery was the "booze cruise" which depended on people's iPods plugged into a speaker (as you can probably imagine this didn't make a great soundtrack). The guide was more... More
