My partner and I did a 2 day/1 night junk boat tour of Halong Bay through Indochina junk/Tropical sails. We ended up chartering the Lagoon Explorer for just the two of us and this was the highlight of our Vietnam trip. I booked the whole thing through the internet and Ms. Mai was the most helpful tour agent I have... more

The Halong Bay area in the Gulf of Tonkin, Quang Ninh Province is a bustling city dotted with hotels and host to hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. It is one of the premiere destinations for the country's tourism industry. A trip to Viet Nam would never be complete if you don’t go for a cruise on Halong Bay.... more

I felt very peaceful and relax when the cruise sailed along Halong Bay, in between thousand of limestone karsts and isles in the gulf. The scenery is fantastic! No wonder everyone says that Halong Bay is a place not to be miss if you go to Hanoi. I definately agreed with it. more

Halong bay is spectacularly beautiful. There are many cruises available, we researched most of them before booking. They range in cost up to over $ 200 US for 2 day one night cruise. I'm sure these can be quite luxurious, but we are cost conscious and wanted the best value. We enjoyed it immensely, the cabin was very attractive, with... more

You absolutely must make this part of your Vietnam trip! The limestone rocks are amazing and everywhere you look, there is an incredible photo opportunity. Try the Pinta Gold, they seemed to go to less secluded areas of Halong Bay, although I am sure there are other great options as well. Spend 1 or 2 nights, kayaking, exploring caves, or... more

Halong Bay is a must-do if you are in Northern Vietnam. It is very beautiful. For the best experience, definitely do the 2 night junk cruise though. We did 1 night and with the 8-hour round-trip drive from Hanoi, it was just too stressful. Still worth it, but would have been much more worth it if we had another night.... more

This is the second time I visit Vietnam and I have had a peasant holiday. The first time I came to visit Halong, unfortunately the weather was wet and foggy because of rains so I could not see the view of Halong Bay. This time, sunny days, humor guide and funny fellow travelers makes my trip much more joyful. Some... more

Truly wonderful place to go. We did a three day boat tour and it was incredible. I loved the beauty and seeing what life is like for people who live on the water 24-7 more

Indochina Sails has 3 large (15 cabins) deluxe junks and one smaller one. They were all built within the past 3 years. We were on Indochina Sails 1. It was super, like staying in a 4 star hotel. The deluxe cabin was lovely -- extremely clean, dark wood floors, comfortable beds, walk in shower, good view. They provide bottled water;... more
