Phuket Butterfly Garden & Insect World has been in operation since 1990. A most authentic butterfly garden, the enclosure covers approximately 1 acre of habitat for 6,000 - 9,000 butterflies per month.Visitors are free to walk among them and observing their behaviour, sipping nectar, and laying eggs. The breeding room tour explains the transition from caterpillar, to a pupa, and finally a butterfly. The place includes an insect world where interesting specimens and live insects are shown such as walking stick, leaf insect’ giant millipedes, etc.. Furthermore explore silk museum where visitors will see thai way of silk production.

Beautiful gardens a little overpriced

It was a nice outing however the building seemed a little old and it was a little overpriced at 300 THB per person.

We paid 600baht for 2 adults and 1 child. The place was a disappointment. It was run down and there were hardly any butterflies there. There was also an insect display but it too was ordinary and some of the exhibits were damaged. Not worth your time to visit.

Large variety of butterflies in a tropical garden flitting from plants & flowers often landing upon you as you walk around.there is an insect museum with some weird exhibits and also some fish ponds,as well as a good cafe.

A small but interesting place. Some bizarre looking insects. Some of the insects appeared dead and the fish where difficult to see as the ponds were so dirty. Needs some work.

We had hired a driver for the day whilst on holiday and arranged to stop off here. As you'd expect there were lots of butterflies but also fish to feed and other insects to look at. All very pretty. I'd say we were there for an hour at the most. I don't think I would go again and am glad... More

Came here with my 5 children. It was ok I guess but I'd rather have spent the money going somewhere else! We walked around it in 20 minutes expecting lots of butterflies but there really wasn't that many.

If you are in the area with your children and got some spare time left, an hour is more than enough. I wouldn't go there a second time, there are better places to spent your time at.

I have been to the Phuket Butterfly & Insect World on several occasions when I go to (try) take photos of butterflies. Received a warm welcome with a drink of what might have been butterfly food, some red sweet cold drink, probably rosella tea. I went with a Chinese Malaysian friend who happens to speak Thai very well. There was... More

My girlfriend persuaded me it go with her and the kids. Th place is fairly small. It starts with a fairly small insignificant exhibit which you just feel like passing through. After this you enter the butterfly garden which is fairly small and not very interesting. Yes there are butterflies flying around, providing a nice ambiance, but this is pretty... More
