Kata Beach has a very European look and feel to it. Rows upon rows of beach chairs and umbrellas are aligned up and down the beach. Each color umbrella represents a new vendor. One guy wanted 500 Baht for the day, whereas further up, the price drops to the usual 100 Baht. So shop around. The clientele too, is decidedly... More

We visited Kata beach a couple of times while in Phuket. We thought that this was the nicest beach we had seen in Phuket. It is smaller than most of the other beaches but still has many shops, restaurants and bars etc. This is an area where we would likely stay on our next trip to Phuket.

Kata Beach is one of the nicer beaches in Phuket but, as an Aussie, I don't go to Thailand for the beaches because I live within an hour of some of the best in the world. There are loads of sunbeds but you can find a spare bit of sand if you look around. I doubt I have seen so... More

Lovely and crowded like all the others. More upscale. Nicer lounge chairs. Mostly foreign tourists. Big expansive swimming area which was ice. The water is very clean.

Kata beach is beautiful with clear sea, you can see the fish but so many sunbeds. There's no gap, Plenty of places to eat, beach huts along the stretch. People swimming where signs said no swimming, especially where they launch the yellow boat. Sat on the sand at the waters edge & didn't get bothered by vendors.

I lasted for 1 hour only. A terrible place - crowds of people, extremely high prices, all shops and cafes. The nature is simply non existent - only the sand, no trees, simply nothing. Really sad place, devastated by tourism. I hope the entire planet does not turn to this place one day.

we traveled to phuket for a few hours as our cruise halted at Phuket for around 8 hours. First of all beware of Tuk-tuk drivers. they will take you to Costly private attractions, which are not worth visiting even at No cost. we also fell in to their trap and wasted our precious Two hours and THB1000. Kata Beach is... More
