Just back from a trip to Chaweng, and in all honesty, you can't see the forest for the trees there anymore. Actually, it's a jungle. Except for the spanking new Central Festival mega-mall (--which just like the so-called 'outlet' near the clock-tower proudly boasts European prices--), there seems to be no overall concept whatsoever to the development that has taken... Go if you want thumping dance music, teens getting tats on the beach, derelict beach front resorts and touts. Otherwise avoid it and the whole of Chaweng. Koh Samui has loads of stunning towns and beautiful beaches, this place is like a train wreck in comparison.

The beach is lovely. Golden sand stretches as far as the eye can see. There were sun beds outside our hotel and pretty much all the others but not overcrowded like Spanish and French beaches. There was plenty of space. I only saw two beach sellers in two weeks selling bananas and coconuts. Lots of amazing bars and restaurants along... More

This was probably the best beach I have ever seen and I have travelled all around the world. Just amazing.

Its the beach that probably every one heads towards. The area is quite hapenning and busteling with people, restaurants, shops but the beach is very crowded. I found the way to the public beach even dirty and full of filth. Not a beach that I would pick

If you go a mile out and avoid the many sea urchins the water may go more than knee high... Not much of s sea experience. But the beach it self is quite allright.. Not as dirty as rumour has it..

Visiting Koh Samui on July, Chaweng beach is nice, clean and has not too many tourists at these times of the year. Might rain might not but is hot and nice anyway.

Was charged 50% more than what was advertised on their web page. Was told the price increase happened on the Monday. Paid for my 16 year old daughter then was asked to fill an indemnity form. As I was doing this with my back to them and sidetracked the boys fitted my daughter with a life jacket. They were pushing... More
