We just went to visit Chaweng Beach but wherever we seemed to go the beach loungers belonged to private resorts. Perhaps we were in the wrong part. There were a lot of jet skis around so I imagine it gets very noisy. We returned to Lamai which is quieter at the Southern end. Bliss!

It's Thailand, so don't expect a super clean beach. Hotel stuff are doing a good job cleaning up the beach but that doesn't make the water any cleaner. Also, dozens of jet skis are running through the water ask the time, often quite close to the beach. If you'd go snorkeling you'd but your life in danger (not that there's... More

There is an oil spill in the waters between Surat Thani mainland and Samui. The oil is washing up on Chaweng and Lamai Beach for 10 days and getting worse. It gets on your skin and doesn't wash off and is photosensitive--it causes skin rash. There is so much garbage on Samui beaches and now this oil spill. We will... More

Really great beach; the water is warm and clear. The sand isn't rocky at all. A lot of massage stalls on the beach for about $11 USD each.

This stretch of beach is fronted by an assortment of very tourist oriented shops, restaurants, and massage locations. There are a few up-market restaurants (Poppies) and some good value restaurants.

Plenty to see, lots to do. Restaurants all along the beach, hire jetskis, have a drink at a bar and people watch. We spent some days here looking for fun and others laying around reading a book. Good times :)

We have just come back from the most amazing family wedding at Ko Samui Thailand! Before we went we booked an excursion so that we could see most of the island We found a company called YENIT company limited. The tour started by picking us up in a lovely leather seated air conditioned car at our resort The tour went... More
