If you go a mile out and avoid the many sea urchins the water may go more than knee high... Not much of s sea experience. But the beach it self is quite allright.. Not as dirty as rumour has it..

Visiting Koh Samui on July, Chaweng beach is nice, clean and has not too many tourists at these times of the year. Might rain might not but is hot and nice anyway.

Was charged 50% more than what was advertised on their web page. Was told the price increase happened on the Monday. Paid for my 16 year old daughter then was asked to fill an indemnity form. As I was doing this with my back to them and sidetracked the boys fitted my daughter with a life jacket. They were pushing... More

The sand felt rather gravelly compared to the likes of Lamai and Ang Thong's beaches. Very, very busy. It was alright, and nice to wade through if you like long walks down the beach in the wetter sand (which isn't nearly as gravelly to the foot as the dry sand) but yeah, nothing special, better off elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong, this is a stunning stretch of beach. But it has changed, for the worse in the last 15 years. Where was once quiet, beautiful sands, are beaches covered with fat European bodies, with loud, European music blaring from the various resorts lining the beach. Off shore, blasts ads from boats, imploring people to attend Mauy Thai... More

Well heading that... More

Chawang beach has really good quality sand, clear water, and gentle to no surf. It has a lot of activity during the day with sun bed rental, drinks and food, many different water activities and plenty of people watching. Where ever you stat in Samui, you'll want to be on the beach as access is limited to a few entry... More

If your young and like lots of 24hour thumping loud music then you should stay at the north end of the beach near the source of all these high jinks at the Ark Bar. If you like the better part of the beach surrounded by all the best restaurants, good swimming and relative noise free zone then stay at the... More
