I don't believe it's worth the visit. The only impressive thing is its size and its view from the beginning of the steps. I'm thinking it was more like a bad construction and felt like a big tourist trap to me. Many souvenir shops around. But for those going for the first time I believe you have to see it... More

Big Buddha Temple is easily seen - a huge ornate figure of Buddah towers over the landscape. Lots of ornate shrines steps and figures are dotted around the base and the sound of bells ring out periodically. Very touristy with many shops selling trinkets surround the area. More

Make sure you get your Thai Baht as money changer is outside of this area. Shopping here is worth a short browse through. Some lovely shops selling better quality buddha statues. Did not walk up to the Big Buddha as was too hot to climb the stairs - you get a better view of the entire Buddha from below anyway. More

We had gone in the last week of April and Man it was really very hot! Still worth the heat and the stairs. The views from the top are amazing! There are many shops at the base of Big Buddha, selling clothes, souvenirs and food. There are also 2 temples at the base and the place is very colorful and... More
