Better than Lomprayah

While Lomprayah is probably the most popular way to hop around Eastern Thailand islands, it's not the best. Try Seatran. I took both Lomprayah and Seatran and Seatran was better... read more

Go with Lomprayah. Seriously. The weather wasn't even bad and yet the Seatran boat felt like it was going to capsize at any moment. All the tourists were scared for their lives; only the locals seemed calm, so maybe it was normal, but its not worth the motion sickness. My girlfriend was seasick for the entire journey, as were many... More

While Lomprayah is probably the most popular way to hop around Eastern Thailand islands, it's not the best. Try Seatran. I took both Lomprayah and Seatran and Seatran was better in almost every respect: - Clearer communication about procedures and boarding - Boats are less crowded - Boats are smaller which means shorter lines and shorter wait times to snag... I arrived here at 10am and walked around the city waiting to get on board seatran at 1pm to koh Tao. I have been sitting at the pier since 1230, waiting and it's now 130pm and no boat in site. I called the office and they stated there is a 45 min delay! All this waiting is cutting into my... More

We travelled with Seatran from koh Phangnan to Koh Tao and after 3 months of backpacking solidly around Asia, I can honestly say this was our worst and most fearful experience. We were sailing into a full blown storm, the boat was very unstable and I was genuinely terrified. A number of people on the boat were throwing up and... More

I thought this ferry service between Samui and Surattani (actually Donsak) was really good. Lots of seats in the A/C section (bucket seat style, pretty comfy). Also some outside benches. Seemed well organized, had life-jackets handy and quite clean. Food shop on board. Bathroom was pretty clean (especially for a ferry!) Lots of big windows. Left almost on time and... More

I have travelled on the Seatran many times over the years it has been operating here and in all types of weathers, flat calm to big waves and although it may take 15 minutes longer than it's rival Lomprayah Catermeran from Koh Samui to Koh Tao, it is a far more stable boat and I do not get sea sick... S_volante is genius. The ferry is usually very delayed, moves like molasses, and the fumes are nauseating. On the way from Koh Samui to Surat Thani I ended up sitting in the canteen area because of AC and I was treated to the overwhelming smell of hotdogs and obnoxiously loud children. The only pro about this company is that it's... More

Nice if you like the stench of diesel fumes, farts, cigarette smoke, spilt beer and BO. Did i forget something, yes screaming kids and why can't they leave on time.

We used SeaTran for our trip from Ko Tao to Ko Phangan. Tickets were cheaper than Lomprayah for this route and honestly the boat was less crowded than our trip with Lomprayah to Ko Tao so I was happy with that and the boat took us to the same dock as Lomprayah in Ko Phangan so it was very easy... After having a terrible experience on the lompryher.. We decided that we wanted to take the "slower" boat to the islands- which was only 15 -20 mins longer than the "speedy catamaran the lompryher" we had nice seats, working aircon and a good view of where we were going. It was a steady pace and made our trip feel much... More
