If you want a time warp to the eighties, this is your place: design of the mall and the clothes in the windows seem to have stayed in display for over 30 years. Don't waste your time.
One earlier review noted that this was not really a shopping mall for tourists and there is some truth in this but there is more to the mall than that. Old mall with many choiches of bakery and food to try. l tried apple pie and blueberry pie and some bread in the Bakery inside Top's Supermarket. They were crunchy and really delicious! The building is old but on a good side - convenient, nice and have many outlets. It is not fancy and doesn't sell high end products - only locals and general things of a big supermarket can offer including Watson's and massage place.
There's everything you need from a mall, minus the crowd! Lived in Chiang Mai for a few years and this is definitely the better of the two malls in Chiang Mai, the other being Robinson.
I enjoyed shopping there so much, we spent all afternoon there. Being airconditioned, it's the best way for shopping in hot days in chiang mai, better than open markets. Has a good place for kids. highly recommended!!!
This mall is very old, not well kept, and is best for local thais and expats who use the shops to buy local items. I would never recommend a tourist to make the trip out to this mall. Also, be very careful of the movie theater on the top floor. The one I was in had one exit for hundreds... More
Though Kad Suan Kaew Shopping Centre has seen better days but I enjoyed my 3 hours spent there. There are some cheap massage place and a food market just outside the complex.
