This is better than the glossy plastic new ones. a bit jaded and worn but has some character. the basement food plaza is great for a good budget thai lunch and you might find a bargain in the mall clothes racks. the sizzler appears to be a rip off.

I'm sure there are better malls in Chiang Mai. This one looks and feels old and tired. The good thing here, though, is the movie theater. Now, it's not like the massive cinema complex in Bangkok (I forget the name, but if you've been, you'll know it's one of the seemingly better ones in the world, seriously, especially for the... We moved into the once grand Lotus Hotel here to escape the summer heat. It's an amazing complex, built in a circle with an open courtyard in the middle, and actually encompasses two hotels, the 4 star Lotus @ Bt1200 and the more down market Baan Din Ki at around Bt7 -900. I believe that both hotels offer incredible value... More

I personally don't like the atmosphere of the centre. It's old, feels like it was built a century ago. The shops don't offer anything special, and prices are just ok. Not cheaper than the other places we've been (local brand). Food selection is fairly limited, and a lot of them aren't freshly cooked to order. The best thing about this... More

We went to this mall a couple of times during our visit and while it is an older style shopping center there are reasons to visit. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights there is an outdoor market outside the main entrance that sells very good homemade local cuisine for very low prices. There is also a food court in the... Visited here during the madness of Songkran to have a moment of peace. The shopping centre is a bit of an eyesore from the outside and inside it's full of shops, predominately selling clothes. There's a largish department store which higher end goods. Downstairs is a food court. I had some red soup with fish balls for 40 baht in... More

Not quite as overwhelming and geared to local families with children, we enjoyed this shopping experience and frequented it several times during our month stay. Play areas for the kids including an arcade and toddler play area, there was even a coin operated puppet show for the infants to enjoy-and our twins loved it! We ate at the Sizzler when... More

This shopping center is a bit older now, but it is still good. It isn't as slick as some of the newer ones, but it does have character. If you dig around you can find some interesting shops and stalls. The prices here can also be a bit cheaper.

Kad Suan Kaew has been overtaken by the newer and flashier Maya and Central Festival Malls and it is a throwback to the way malls used to be. That said it does have just about everything one could want albeit it doesn't house any of major brand name stores. The clientele are mostly local and there are some good deals... More
