Basil was recommended by Tao from David's Kitchen. Our booking was less than a day in advance. Email reply was fast and accurate. Our instructor namely Apple was humorous while clearly introduced to us various herbs and vegetables in a local market. She speaks good English and have good presentation skills. FYI, I have almost zero cooking experience, but I... More

Apple was an amazing instructor! For 1000 baht, we cooked 7 dishes! We had so much fun, laughed, learned various techniques & even made fresh coconut milk! They pick you up from your guesthouse/hostel and before you start cooking, you pick up the ingredients from the market! Completely recommend this experience! Totally worth it!

What a wonderful way to spend the day. Khun Apple has a great sense of humor and a wonderful passion for teaching others about Thai food. You start the day at the market learning about veggies, fruit, spices, etc.....then off to the cooking school comfortably located in a house. You get to select your own dishes. Might want to skip... We were lucky enough to be in Chaingmai at a fairly quiet time, so booked really last minute and ended up having a private cooking class with just the two of us! We we're collected from our hotel to go straight on to the food market to pick up the fresh ingredients for our recipes. Learning about all the produce... More

I took two days of classes since I wanted to make all the dishes that interest me. It was definitely worth the money and I recommend everbody to make this first class cooking-school experience. You get picked up from your hotel by the cookery school staff and drive to a local market where the chef will tell you everything important... More

We really enjoyed this cooking school. Our teacher spoke English very well and did a great job explaining everything to us. We were able to make everything vegetarian, and the food turned out really yummy! We tried another larger cooking school on our last visit to Chiang Mai, but really preferred the small class size at Basil (there were 5... More

We went as a group of 5 and had a fantastic time. We were pricked up from our hotel and taken to the markets where we were given a very informative tour. We then went back to the kitchen and cooked some fantastic food. The host was friendly and good humoured - she even arranged for one of her staff... More

It was fantastic. The teacher took us to the market to shop for the ingredients. We had a choice of what we liked to cook then eat. The group was only 6 people which was great and fun. We cooked everything from scratch and did all the preperation and cooking ourselves. My partner and I loved the experience. Totally recommend... More

The instructor Tom was very generous with his time, answering all questions while watching over your cooking. The other positive of this school over others I think is the small group - so you get more attention. We had 6 people in our group. The day includes a market trip and a booklet to take home at the end. There... More

This was one of my wife and I's favorite things. Definitely don't need any longer than a half day for this kind of thing. Your guide will take you to the market for about an hour and go over all the ingredients/what a market layout is generally like. Afterwards the cooking, you'll pick between 6 different courses (multiple options with... More
