Our teacher, Boom and here assistants were wonderful. She picked me up directly from my hostel and we promptly gather the other students and made our way to the market. The market was fun as everyone knew Boom and welcomed us in. As others have commented we picked 6 different dishes from several categories. The assistants so promptly prepped our... More

They picked us up, took us to the local market to buy the ingredients and learn about Thai food. Next we went to the school/kitchen where we were served tea and a local appetizer. The staff had prepared everything for us and had the kitchen ready to go. First she would demonstrate the dish, then help us make it. We... More

I took this class as part of my trip to Chiang Mai. It was great. First we went to the market and bought all the ingredients so we knew what to look out for at home. We cooked six delicious dishes, and was really easy and fun. Our teacher tom (I think) was also very good, and it was great... More

A fantastic afternoon/evening learning to cook Thai food! Our instructor, Apple, started with a visit to a local market where we learnt about ingredients, and found out the names of many fruit and veg we'd already seen for sale. At the cookery school, we were soon cooking under Apple's direction, learning about Thai food and having fun. We had a... More

We started out with a trip to the market where Apple (our instructor) taught us about all the ingredients we'd be using, and included some suggestions for substitutions. Then we went to the school and began cooking. We cooked noodle dish first, then ate and then cooked soup, and appetizer and ate those. At this point there was a short... More

Book it now! We had such a great day yesterday, having both enjoyed cooking Thai food at home it was great to learn the proper way to do things, rather than just following a recipe. The classes are always very small, ours only had 7 people, which, after having done one in Vietnam with 28 people really allows you to... More

My partner and I attended this class! He loves to cook, however I don't! Surprisingly I loved this day! Apple (our guide) was funny, supportive, knowledgable and full of energy! We cooked LOTS OF FOOD! We could just about fit it all in! The class is organised and well managed as we were then able to sit and eat after... More

These guys do a great job. In half a day you cook 7 courses with a choice of 3 dishes from each course... and you attempt to eat it all in several multi-course "rounds." We were filled with great info and amazing food by the time it was all over. Clear and fun instruction, fresh and authentic ingredients, and a... More

The evening class at Basil is so worth the time and money. You get to cook 5-6 dishes in a small group of no more than 6 people, so it's a great value for the price. The instructors are amazing. Our group had Apple, and she was so patient and so much fun. It was a very hands-on experience. You... More
