Baan Chang Elephant Park rescues elephants from other places in Thailand. They seem to try to provide an educational and fun experience for visitors while still maintaining humane treatment for elephants. You do get to ride the elephants, but only bare back. Since my son and I "shared an elephant" (and they are plenty big enough to share!), he rode... More

My friend and I were apprehensive about going to ride elephants, but I am so glad we went! The mahouts seemed to really care for the elephants and we were told they were all rescued from work, cities or the circus. When we arrived, the elephants were chained but we were told that it was so the males didn't fight.... More

The friend I was traveling with was very concerned about the ethical treatment of animals when we looked into our elephant tour, and spent a great deal of time researching the options. She chose Baanchang Elephant Park, and I'm so glad she did! We were picked up promptly for the trip, and spent a memorable day at the park. Feeding... More

The great thing about Baan Chang is that they are completely open and honest about how they run the place and why they do certain things. Our guide, Nai, was very friendly and easy going and answered all our questions. He took great pains to educate us about the realities of rescuing elephants. The great costs involved, the potential danger... More

I am strongly against animal cruelty, which is why I chose to visit Baan Chang after reading all the positive reviews. All the elephants at this camp were rescued from places where they had to perform tricks and shows. You'll find happy elephants here that eat a ton of bananas and sugar cane, have enough exercise, and bathe several times... More

We did a one day course at BaanChang Elephant Park in Chiang Mai and it was great. After pick up from the hotel it is a 45 min drive to the Elephant Park. The dat starts with a brief introduction about the park and the elephants, after that you have the possibility to feed the animals. Every elephant has its... More

Me and my girlfiend went to Baan chang elephant park during April 2014. We had an amazing day. Started off with a pick up from out hotel which was on time. On arrival we got changed into the blue outfits (so the elephants recognise the difference between mahoot and tourist aparently!) We fed the elephants in the morning then learnt... More

A wonderful experience to remember, our tour guide was Woody. My 3 year old daughter, and even my 6 month old son, seemed to enjoy themselves. We rode the elephants, fed the elephants, and my 3 year old loved to bathe the elephants! The food was very accomodating for vegetarians, and even my 6 month old had an outfit to... More

As with most animal attractions in Asia there will always be mixed reviews or uncertainty of the treatment the animals receive. I enjoyed the day and it was good to find out a bit more about the Park and elephants and to walk around with the elephants when you fed them. The elephants look happy and there is a lot... More

recently spent 2 days at Baanchang with 1 day doing elephant rides and 1 day doing trekking and rafting. The elephant riding and interaction was amazing. I was worried about the chains and hooks but they explained in great detail about the reasons for it and could really see that the trainers loved their elephants! Our guide Puza made the... More
