Owner description: Most tourists think Lumpini Park is as green as Bangkok gets, but hidden across the Chao Phraya River is the almost-island of Bang Krachao, known as the "green lungs" of the city. A 10-minute boat trip from Khlong Toey Port, it’s a vast area of unspoiled mangroves and orchards with little in the way of infrastructure. Many biking tours will organize trips to the area or you can go it alone and rent a bike when you get there.

As a resident of Bangkok, I regularly biking in Bang Krachao on weekend mornings. I would ride my bicycle to the pier behind the temple near Bangkok Port, take a boat to cross the river (no life jackets), and plunge into the middle of a sea of green with smell of plants and flowers (stronger fragrance in early mornings on... Its been 2 months in Bangkok and didnt find something as amazing as cycling in Bang Krachao. What an underrated place. Forget about the Tourist not even many locales know this. One can rent a bicyle for just 100 baht for a day, cycle on the thin lanes venturing into lush green jungles, visit places on the way (bangkok tree... More

If you have not been to Bang Krachao drop everything and go. Who knew that you didn't even need to travel out of Bangkok to escape the city. Bang Krachao is a great place for a day trip. I would highly recommend renting a bicycle and just riding around. This is one of my favorite places in Bangkok.

I'm not sure what pier you stop at, unfortunately, but it know it's near klong toei, off Rama 4...sorry. After crossing the river to the west side, you should find yourself in "Phra Padang" province. You can rent bicycles at the pier for 40 baht for a couple hours to explore the "island". I recommend finding your way to the... More

A big area of Island on the Chao Phraya river. The magnificent view from above. A small floating market worth visiting..you can still see the local life path there. You can also visit klong Lad Pho Park - the klong that is a short cut for water flow directly to the Bay of Thailand.

Even tho I am a Bangkoker, I've just knew this place a month ago. There isn't far from Bangkok but totally different from my place. They all are quite green and some people there still do gardening. In Bangkok, it was like that when I was younger.. about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, city became bigger and there are less green.... More

With group of friends, we went on biking, trekking thru a little jungle-like park. It was lovely and peaceful seeing those green scenery and feeling the fresh air. It was awesome to see those bangkok buildings and its long tiring day from the opposite side of Chaopraya River!

"The lungs of Bangkok", and what a description! Bkk has some nice parks, well, a few, but nothing like this. Get yourself to the pier at Klong Toei (take the Mrt or a taxi there) and for a measly 20 baht you can get a dodgy little boat across the river. Once there rent a bicycle, for next to nothing,...
