Signed up for the morning class on a Saturday. Our group of 6 was taken by a chef to a nearby market for a walkthrough and introduction to Thai ingredients. Back at the school another chef gave us demos for each of the four dishes we'd cook. Then went to another kitchen where we cooked. At the end of the... More

We did the morning Saturday class. You spend just over an hour at the market looking at the general Thai ingredients. We then went back and learned how to cook four fantastic dishes. Two them will be made several times going forward when I get back home. Clean classroom, expert cook. What will end up making this class is who... More

The website promised an extensive introduction to thai ingredients in a theory class , drinks , a cooking set to take home, etc. I only got a solo demo and cooked my 4 dishes which I chose to take home because there was no one else there I didn't want to eat alone. The food tasted great and the chef... More

Oh wow. The cooking class was amazing. The teacher was very nice. And you have a chance to cook the dishes yourself. And the taste was very close to what the teacher made for us to try. And we can have our cooking dishes at the end of the lesson was fun! Overall, it was a great experience.

Blue Elephant does have the reputation of being THE Cooking School for Thai Cuisine (at least for foreigners/ expats/ travellers) and the house it's located in is beautiful...but when it came to taking a class, not only was it with a group of +10 but I felt our instructors were a bit too robotic: demo-taste-kitchen-demo-taste-kitchen and so on...it felt VERY... I've been to many international cities and have never written a review about anything before, but the blue elephant inspired me to write my first. Not only is the atmosphere historically Thai, yet progressive and vibrant; the food is delicious; the staff is attentive; and the presentation is suburb. For any traveller looking for the best Thai food at a... More

We did more than one cooking class during our stay in Thailand. This one was not a great one. Limited explanation on how to use the ingredients, and a very quick cooking moment. Fancy place, but lack simplicity and atmosphere.

What a fantastic experience. After a quick tour of the local market, the cooking started. Cooking 5 authentic Thai dishes, learning a the local tricks of the trade this was a great experience. Our teacher was informative, personable and knowledgable. After cooking our 5 dishes we were invited to sit in the beautiful dining room for lunch. We were then... More

After 15 hours of travel, we were looking for something that would ease us into the world of Bangkok. We thought cooking school might be the perfect activity and it was! We took the afternoon class where we first watched a demonstration then made individual dishes of traditional Thai food. When the class ended, we got to enjoy our personally... More

Five of us booked an afternoon cooking school session on a recent trip to Bangkok. We had been to the Blue Elephant previously for dinner and found the food to be very good, if a bit pricey, the staff very skilled, and the atmosphere of the place to be classic Thai. With such good memories of our dining experience we... More
