Had no plans to sightsee but was convinced by the proprietor of Excelsior Tailor Shop to go. He provided a cab to the river and placed me on river taxi for a very reasonable 18 baht. Most importantly, he directed me to hire a private guide at the Palace grounds and even told me how much to pay. Best advice... more

The first day we tried to visit Grand Palace, we hadnt bought with us long pants and shirts (for men as well!) - they do have clothes to borrow however the line was way too long to stand in so we came back the next day! easy! You should ignore all the tuktuk drivers telling you that it is shut.... more

The Grand Palace is a true wonder of the world. It is so amazing. I have been to many wonderful places of the world. I admit that this place is among the most wonderful man-made attraction. The decoration of inside and outside of the palace is delicately hand craft all over the palace. The grand palace and the royal temple... more

The Royal Palace of Bangkok blew me away. I thought it would be interesting, but it's incredible beauty and grandeur was totally unexpected. The palace area also contains the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the most holy temple in all of Thailand. This area is magnificent, do not miss it - write it into your itinerary right now. Are you... more

By the time I reached Grand Palace พระบรมมหาราชวัง or Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang, there were hundreds of visitors! I paid 350 THB for the entrance ticket. That was really expensive. Later, I discovered it was a 3 in 1 package. Basically, I got myself three separate tickets. 1st ticket - Entrance to Grand Palace พระบรมมหาราชวัง & Temple of Emerald... more

Spent a leisurely morning walking around the Palace and its grounds. Most guidebooks list this as the number 1 thing to see in Bangkok and as far as palaces and temples go it was definitely worth a visit. It cost about 350 baht to get in and there was not a major queue as we went first thing in the... more

This is an awesome structure, very huge and magnificent. It would be good to get there early or later in the afternoon and then you could get one of the English speaking free guides. A warning that the public boat does not in fact drop you at the pier of the grand palace, but one 10 mins away. A private... more

We recently toured the grand palace in Bangkok and found it to be breathtakingly beautiful. Our guide was great and she explained many things around the palace grounds and also explained the love the Thai people have for their King and Queen. The tour takes a few hours and it is advisable to have a water bottle with you, a... more

This is a must see attraction in Bangkok, so much so I have been twice. Once in 2005 and once in 2009! The second time I went it was under a foot in water but it was still a highly enjoyable experience. My only advice would be to go with a guide. There are lots of different companies offering this... more

We were in Bangkok at the beginning of the Lent period. It was so great to see the entire country was off for 3 days. All temples, some closed usually were opened for prayers . It was great to see how the temple was being cleaned, looked after, buidling and restoration work. We witnessed the locals praying, blessings being given... more
