Owner description: One of Bangkok’s best-kept secrets is Khlong Toey, a chaotic, sprawling food market not far from the city’s centre. It’s a travel photographer’s dream, packed with shouting market vendors offering live produce, fresh fruit and vegetables and cooked local dishes. Eye-opening and enthralling, it’s a great insight into how locals live – and to where your moo manow really comes from.

Most 'Local' feeling place I visited in Bangkok. Got there at 6:30am and got to see everything. If you have a weak stomach, this probably isn't for you. If you don't Top choice to make sure you hit up when in town.

Anything from fresh fish, vegetables, cooking accessories and many others can be found here. Within easy reach by MTR to Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and a 3m walk to the next junction, The market is on all 4 corners of the junction. We did not see any tourists. Works 24h a day.

If you want to see how Bangkok's southeastern denizens shop for groceries, this is the place to go. This was the 4th market I toured while in SE Asia, and it was by far the largest. It is impressive both in its sprawl and by the number of people bustling around, negotiating prices and buying fresh ingredients. Everything you need... More

If you are looking for a real local market then this is the place! If you have sensitive eyes and/or stomach, think twice. I loved this place, almost no tourists and everything you can wish for. All the possible fruits, vegetables, and also all the possible meat. This means your usual chicken and pork but also organs, ratmeat,insects.... And the... More

Locals frequent this market, while vendors are unfretted by the tourists. Nothing is more impressive than locals filling their food baskets with fresh ingredients. My local supermarket makes me sick, in comparison to the freshness here. Enjoy the variety of produce and fresh products. If you're not into food, don't bother visiting.

Daily fresh market every day 6:00 to midnight. This place is most inportant wet food market in Bangkok. You can buy fresh fish, raw meat and everything you nerd for cooking. Khong Toey Market is open every day.

If you want to witness a real thai market you should go visit this place. I would recommend to arrive early in the morning when it is at its busiest and full of people and more importantly fresh produce. Here you can find everything from flowers to seafood to animal intestines. Also live poultry. The smell can get quite overwhelming... More

Well I visited this amazing market in Jan 2014 it was a fab experience. I stayed at The Landmark hotel on Sukhumvite Road (very nice) I took the BTS Sky Train then the MRT underground, no problem. Well worth the trip if you want to see the real Bangkok Thailand. Proper gritty and earthy market. Small alleyways lots to see... More

Not much of what you'll see as a tourist in Bangkok is real from the perspective of a Thai person. I've lived here for 7 months and today was one of the first times I've felt like I'm shopping like a Thai person. It's super stinky because of the live chickens for sale but it's worth it.

I went here in the Mid Afternoon, it was still pretty busy, but not as busy as it would have been in the early morning when the locals visit for their daily grocery shopping. Khlong Toey is an excellent Farmers Market in the sense it is not a tourist spot, so what you see is real life in Bangkok. Most... More
