Eye opener!

Went with an open mind - you need to! Not the best cabaret show and came away from it a little confused and bewildered - but hey has to be seen!

If you're looking for a sanitized exposure to the famous ladyboys of Thailand, then Calypso is where to go. But I suspect there are probably many other more authentic places more worthy of your time and money. There are two ticket options: one with dinner & a show, and the other for just the show. We did the dinner and... More

So, I suppose this is about as touristy as it gets. A ladyboy show in Bangkok. It was very seedy but quite interesting. Very little structure to the show, probably more in my high school drama classes, with the theme being an outfit change every 5 minutes and a new entrant being lady gaga or madonna etc and did have... If you are up to a different experience, I would recommend this for you. The prize is ok, and it includes a complimentary drink. I have nothing to compare it to, but I think the show was entertaining! Great dancers and fun to watch.

This is a short taxi ride from ko san road, This production is in a modern area with lots of restaurants and shops around. Should you buy your ticket on-line you will need a print out or the ticket on your phone or tablet. The show is on the second floor up some stairs. The theatre is large and has... More

We had wanted to see the famous ladyboys show but this was the nearest we found on TripAdvisor. We took the riverboat to Asiatique and got tickets for the same night. We were given a free souvenir calander. After dinner at an italian restaurant we returned to the beautiful exquisite theatre. We were shown to our seats only to find... More

I watched the Calypso Cabaret show at the Asiatique Riverfront tonight (Jan 29, 2016). We paid 1,000 bahts per person (about $28) for the 75-minute show & 1 drink. We were looking forward to see the beautiful ladyboys but the show turned out to be a disappointment. The theatre was nice and clean. Tonight, it was sold out. The sound... More

The show lasts about 75 minutes and is a constant barrage of 5 minute scenes of various genres including Traditional Thai, Japanese, Korean, Chinese etc. Unfortunately all the acts are mimed and the sound track's not good. The theatre is like stepping into 70's Vegas, you sit at tables and chairs, not cinema style. The ticket includes a free drink.... More

Please...don't take me wrong....nothing personal against people performing in this Cabaret, however it was quite boring and fake. Don't buy coctails pre show cause those are about $10-14...but you get one at the beginning of the show which is included in the ticket price. If you are looking for "unique" bar experience -visit The Stranger bar - lots of fun.....😉

Well what can I say - ladyboys are as unique to Thailand as Thai food. Expected a lot more from the show but received it more as a freak show. The venue is nice and Asiatique River Front us nice too with excellent inexpensive shops. Good place to spend the evening but as for Calypso Cabaret, I would skip I'd... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighborhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
