Went up to Mt. Qixing (the highest peak) by the East Peak trail (2.4km) and came down by the shorter Xiaoyoukeng (1.6km). It got really windy at the peak and I'm not exaggerating when I say I got lifted off my feet a couple of times. The view was stunning but the climb itself was amazing too, as you get... More

Brillant location! Cooling and windy. Air if fresh. Many spot to stop over. Eg the hot spring, volcano, trail at the mountain top. Walking among the cattles, relax and enjoy the evironment.

If you are not going to Japan, that I recommend that for you as the sakura can be considered nice - but if you are going, save the time then, cannopt compare to the Japan one.

Reached by local bus from the Taipei Main Station, the mountain area is a verdant oasis that is kept clean, orderly and generally safe. It is a haven for harried souls, a paradise for walkers and the still robust elderly and a magical, quiet area for new lovers. No need to bring food as there are kiosks and stores, even... More

I still find incredible that in Taipei everything you need to do to submerge deeply into nature is just to take the metro and then a bus. Beautiful park, easily accessible - the stairs will probably kill the legs of the less experienced hikers but if you go slow there is no problem. Bring lots of water and a 2nd... More

I love Yang Ming San so much that I went not just 1, but 2 days. I was alone and on my first day, I was very fortunate to meet a kind Taiwanese lady on the bus. Upon knowing that I jog regularly, she offered to bring me along on her trail up to the Mt Qixing Main Peak. We... More

I traveled up a windy old road to the top of the mountain with a few locals, I was able to see Taipei in all its entirety late at night, overgrown trees were at the viewing point so climbed up some fences to see the city clearly. Awesome!
