Love night markets and this one although small was excellent for street food. Unlike a number of night markets I've been too, this place was clean, not too packed (mainly locals and I would say only a handful of tourists) and the stall owners were friendly and polite. Regretted having dinner before coming, otherwise would have been trying out even... More

We went to this market because it was within walking distance from our hotel (Taipei 101 neighbourhood). It's rather small when compared to other night markets in Taipei but we found everything we were looking for: flavorsome and cheap fresh fruit juices, fried mushrooms, spring onion pancake (the best!), taro and sweet potato balls, taro / pineapple / red bean... Came here to get the "cultural experience" of a Taipei night market. People say this is the best one, so we had to see it. I don't know if this is the best one, but this is one of the biggest one. I honestly have not idea what makes this the best one. I'm no Taiwan expert, but I have... More

This is no doubt the most underrated night market in Taipei. The night market is definitely shorter and smaller than most other markets and can be completed in less than an hour. However, most stalls there will be what you find in other more crowded night markets so you still get to try the food without the crowd. The market... More

This market is smaller than Shilin market. It seems less geared toward tourists. It has a number of food stalls selling local eats and drinks. Nice shops lining the streets. Not overly crowded and within walking distance from our hotel.

Ten years ago while I was in college, this was where I went after school with friends. We bought something we liked to eat and had it on the sidewalk or some tiny parks nearby. This was where I had those good old times. After I graduated, I stopped visiting here for many years, until last night. It was crowded... More

Not a big market, just a stretch of shops and food stalls. Not too crowded, stalls opens about 6.30pm. Maybe 1.5hrs is enough to buy, eat and walk the market. The MRT station should be quite far. We walked quite a distance before reaching the MRT but I am not sure if it is the nearest MRT station we went... More

Tonghua Night Market (通化夜市) is one of my new favourite in Taipei City. It does not have the scary huge crowds (sometimes with those big tour groups) like Shilin and Raohe, yet it has a fairly good mix of shops and food. I could walk comfortable and enjoy the time there. Lots of delicious food - the stinky tofu (金酥臭豆腐)... More

My boyfriend and I checked out this night market on our first day in Taipei, as I had read it was more local and less touristy than some of the others and it was walking distance from our hotel. This night market did not disappoint! My only recommendation is go with an empty stomach! Plenty of food vendors and shops... More

Taipei has DOZENS of night markets. But a lot of them are differentiated as ones that are "good for shopping" and ones that are "good for food" Tonhua Night Market is a good balance of both. The shopping is great, the food choices are great, and it is easily accessible and central. Lots of fun shopping is available, even for... More
