Our first stop here in Taipei and it reminded me of a cheaper version of Shibuya, Tokyo! Lots of shops with 'cosplay' fashion and youngsters on the streets at night. Definitely a cheaper version of Japan too. I bought a nice headband here for AUD1!

This is a place in Taipei which is much better to visit during the week. Weekends are unbearably busy and packed. This area is the best for shopping and the night market here is huge and awesome. Be prepared to eat a lot and shop cheap stuff, anything you can imagine. There are underground parking areas so you don't have... More

Good for an evening stroll, there are many things to do in Ximen, from eating, shopping or being entertained. A bit more expensive than other areas, and populated manly with young people. The atmosphere is lively though and you shouldn't miss a walk around here when in Taipei!

A good place to look for trendy accessories and clothes and great street food selection available. It is also close to the Red House, an iconic landmark once you exit from the Xi Men Ding Train station( exit 3)

Metro stop is also called Ximen which makes it easy to get there. It's a great area with colourful streets full of little restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops. Also a street of theatres showing the latest flicks from Asia and Americas. A short walk down the street and it will take you to Carrefour, a wonderful hypermarket with built in deli,... More

We stayed at west gate hotel and xi men was nearby. The small stalls were so delicious. I especially liked the grilled quail eggs. Very nice place to shop and eat! There is a street artist who do spray paint too. Very worth it. NT100 which is abt S$4.

This is a shopping haven... for small stores make sure that you haggle for a good price. The place is crawling with people starting at 6 PM.

This district is packed with people, food, shops and shops. You can find virtually any cruisine, cheap and expensive shops, trendy or not that trendy. It is next to the Ximen Station and is very convenient. We have afternoon tea in an artisan bakery shop with nice coffee and pastries. What a surprise on quality and great service.

A lot of places in Taipei feel like walking along motorways. I felt more at ease in XiMen district where you can "feel" the city wandering around.

Stores open quite late after noon. Not that cheap compare to HK as they are not allow for bargain. Nothing specific at this place or area. Restaurants are also not particularly good.
