The area is nice, many shops but also small restaurants and take away tea houses. It's full of youngster hanging out and it's quite vibrant. On the other hand the red house has really nothing special and is not well put on display. It's opposite side of the road of ximending and they put some meaningless shops inside. Nothing about... Located right in the area of Ximending where all the youngsters hang out, during Friday and over the weekends there will be stalls set up outside the Red house selling locally made art stuff like bags, t shirts, accessories and other interesting stuff. I went there once and the red house was open, inside was more shops selling interesting trinkets... More

Read house has a long history n is now a museum with many shops selling old fashion stuff. There are many bars and cafés n restaurants around the House and they strive at night. Very safe and busy. There are some gay bars behind Red House but they are not offensive . People are very very gentle n helpful in... More

An interesting red building which was originally a trading house and now converted into a small theatre with a meuseum, together with many interesting small shops selling traditionally items. There is a cafe inside and with lots of outside seating when weather permits. There are many bars surrounding the red house and get busy at night. A definitely interesting place... More

The Red House used to be an early showcase for revitalization of heritage buildings in Taipei. Over the years, perhaps coupled with the lack of maintenance and new programming, it has become tired and the space looks disorganized. Doesn't hurt to have a photo of the building, but do not expect too much.

We visited the place on weekdays. There is not much things to see. It is just a historical building. That's it. Do visit it on weekends if you want to see something

Visited the red house which has a mini exhibition on its history and shops. Visited for the sake of visiting because it's an iconic building.

Comes alive at night but the Red House is not real deal but the neon lights and lively atmosphere and the crowds of young people make XiMenting special. Not Patpong, Leicester, Time Square or Ikeburo nevertheless the sea of people mostly young give vibrancy as with the night markets (for the older crowd). There are cinemas, shops to cater for... ximen was a commercial district decades ago. The city government redesigned the flow of the streets and alleys to make it a much more interesting area focused for those looking for fun and recreation and good foods. I find lots of eating places,, each with its own characteristic, Japanese, Mexican, Korea, Italian, apart from typical Taiwanese snacks. Also there are... More
