If you go there on a Saturday, and just walk past the touts trying to sell you stuff, the fascinatingly morbid sacrifice of animals is... fascinating! Families will then have a picnic somewhere eating barbequeing and sharing the animal.

Tuesday morning and Saturday mornings are the big slaughter days when the steps turn red. Nevertheless it's a considerably better place than the Kathmandu Abatoir, of course, as the animals are calm to the last. after offerance, the family eat the meat, so nothing is wasted.
