The local people have to keep the area clean. They have to maintain the buildings, so that people can view them as it was 15yrs ago. In the evening couples sit all around the monuments and eating and drinking.

Durbar Square is a little bit of a rip-off. It's a neat place to walk around, but the entry fee was a bit steep considering. There are some neat shops along the way and pretty temples, just don't expect too much.

They was a Mao party meeting when we arrived here, with trucks of miltary, so the square was not busy and meant we could take photos easily. It is like stepping back into history. We walked from the Thamel area, enjoying all there is to see enroute.
