The golf course at Thimpu is by far the most scenic course I have ever played. Surrounded by the Himalayas, the 9 hole course is a delight to play. This is a very rudimentary not-too-challenging golf course ... if you want bragging rights you should play a round here ... otherwise I'd suggest taking a pass.

The only thing worthy of spending your money here is getting a golf shirt to tell people you played golf in Bhutan. This barely qualifies as a golf course. There is no golf course grass. The greens are like shag carpet. The bunkers are unraked. And for my 9 hole round, caddy, a sleeve of balls, rental clubs and tees... More

Golf in Bhutan - we had to do it. The course was surprisingly good - rental clubs - they worked, caddies - one was 12!!! If you are a golfer you must play here.

Lakey, the owner of the travel agency through which I traveled Yetis and Dragons Bhutan Travels saw me swinging my arms around, and offered me a round of golf with her friends on this course. Believe it or not, the Royal Thimphu Golf Course was very challenging. It is a par 33 (about 2800 yds) with plenty of challenges. The water hazzards are man made and are strategically placed and effective. The fairways are narrow with punishing rough and the greens are bent grass and put very true.
