Owner description: Travel in cars, not a bus, and go where others don't. Fifteen days in country--we traverse the entire country and exit to Guwhati airport in India. We are the hosts of two private festivals and we have access to temples and dressing rooms where we can take pictures. Then enjoy a picnic lunch that we sponsor with over 100 villagers. We believe in community tourism and emerse you in Bhutanese culture, religion, flaura and fauna. Just visit our web site at RainbowPhotoTours, you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I travelled to Bhutan in September 2014 with Rainbow Photo Tours and we had a magnificent and enjoyable trip. In every way, all aspects of this trip far exceeded our expectations. Robin Smillie, an experienced and accomplished photographer, was our photographic guide and organiser extra ordinaire. He said he would put us in front of unique photographic... More

Check out these photos of Brutan. I am heading there in August. Here is some information I found helpful. Passport You need a passport to enter Bhutan and its neighbouring countries. You should ensure that it has sufficient empty pages for stamps, especially if you are travelling via India or Nepal. If your passport has less than six months of... More

On two occasions people had recommended Rainbow Photo Tours when they learned we were planning to go to Bhutan. We have traveled to china, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, Europe, Africa, etc. and this tour is by far the best we have ever been on. I am a professional photographer and having the luxury of our own large comfortable SUV with driver and... More

My travel to Bhutan with Rainbow Photo Tours was a personal customized tour inside of an organized small group travel tour to Bhutan. Definitely the best travel experience I could have asked for to Bhutan. I usually look for individualized tours but with this company each pair had on their own serendipitous customized trip - even though the 8 cars... More

I have traveled on many group tours (hiking and photography) in the past and have never taken the time to write a review. My recent tour of Bhutan, however, earned the effort it takes to review and recommend the Rainbow Tour Company to future travelers to Bhutan. I had wanted to travel to Bhutan for over 10 years and made... More

This is "not your normal" group trip. Each couple/2 people has their own driver and guide--and are free to make decisions about where to stop, what to skip etc. Small group (16-18) convenes for breakfast, sometimes lunch and dinner/where you stay the night. This tour goes from West to East........and the farther East you travel, the fewer tourists you encounter.... More

Bhutan is one of the last great untouched destinations of the world and fortunately can be seen without the travel difficulties and discomfort necessary for some of the others. I tend to be an independent traveller but opted for Rainbow Photo Tours after extensively investigating online and discussing with people who had done other options. After doing it I cannot... More

This trip was remarkable. Having our own guide and driver allowed us to stop whenever we wanted and experience the culture in a way that would not have been possible on a tour bus. This trip is advertised as a photo tour. My husband is the serious photographer whereas I have a "point and shoot" camera. Recommendations were given for... More

Bhutan went from a largely inchoate fantasy to a mesmerizing reality during Robin's photo tour. No guide books, videos or written reviews can do this tour, or Bhutan itself, justice. Just go! You will have great photos, meet new friends, and experience a country with the warmest people you can imagine. Do not go if you are subject to altitude... More

We were looking to experience Bhutan, without being on the same tourist bus as everyone else visiting Bhutan. Robin's tour absolutely fulfilled our wishes. After 27 visits to Bhutan over the years, Robin has built up relationships and a reputation with the people of Bhutan, which he puts to use by arranging visits to places other tours simply can't get...
