We went on the guided game drive with a group (all of us are from the U.S.) and had an excellent time. The drivers were friendly, though they were not afraid of taking risks at all. They took us literally within 10 ft of the lions and kept trying to get us close to the herds of elephants, even when... More

We recently visited Hlane National Park, we stayed in a family cottage which was clean and neat with a lovely braai area and an outside shower with gorgeous warm water. The cottage looked out over the water hole and we saw more game coming to drink at the waterhole than we did during our drives. We decided that next time... More

As per the title, Hlane National Park can not be compared to the Kruger National Park, as it is nowhere near the size, doesn't have the varied animal species and is essentially a fenced in safari park. Don't let this deter you though - its well worth a visit... Hlane is a sanctuary for Rhinos and they are well protected... More

As this is my second safari (Kruger Park being first) I would say the guided tour was worth the money. I was told that Hlane is a small park so you have a chance of seeing more of the animals, especially the big five. Did not see water buffaloes as they were not present in the park but we did... Hlane is a very special place. We have been many times when we worked in Swaziland . found the lodges simply furnished an clean. This time we camped with a van...loved it!!! Ablutions clean and food good. Enjoyed the paraffin lamps and no electricity... But go prepared with lamps and torches..

We slept in Hlane on the 9th and departed on 10 November 2013. If you are looking for a vast wilderness, Hlane is not the place. It is a very small game reserve. While you are definitely going to see the Lion, it will most likely be close to the outer fence. You will be able to enjoy the sight... More

We just visited Hlane Royal National Park on 30th Aug'13 from Johannesburg by road. We went via Oshoek border post . We were having an impression that Oshoek border is always crowded and takes longer time to get through ...but to our surprise ..it took not even 10 mins time to clear ...may be because we were on a week... Hlane won’t blow you away, it’s a small reserve but there are the big 5 - or so they say. I was not fortunate to see the them all but take the parks word for it that they were out there. I did see many Rhino and Elephant plus the general assorted game such as Kudu, Giraffe. Ndlovu camp looks... More
