The variety of animals are limited, however it is very near to Kigali and also reasonably priced. The hotel is in bad shape but still usable and cheap for Rwandan standards. The drives can be done alone by getting a Map from the counter. If you get a guide from the counter they will usually try to finish it off... More

We were lucky we went in their safari car,we were sitting at the top of the car and seeing all kinds of animals like giraffes, zebras, warthogs, lions, leopards, antelopes, hyenas, elephants and they are rogue elephants, hippos, and crocodiles and birds. We were camping there for a month and we paid US$10000. I am telling you dont take the risk because the hippo had come out of the water... More

I have visited the park. it has many animals but no big preditors, lions etc. It has 2 geraffes and only one elephant, that you may nor see. It has lots of Zebras, dears, buffalos. it has hippos nad crocodiles that you may not see. If you want to see elephants and lions, you should consider visiting the queen Elizabeth... More

We've been to Akagera several times. It's a great place to take visitors for a day. We always use a local tour company because their vehicles are up to the task as a result the experience is improved. The large tour company vehicles have roofs that can be lifted allowing you stand and get a better view. Also everybody in... More

A day like this in Kenya or Tanzania will cost big $$$. At Akagera, $30 pp gets a 6 hour drive with a knowledgeable Rwandan park guide. The park is recovering from refugee movment and Tanzanian poachers. The only animals we did not see were lions and elephants. Predators are missing so there are plenty of antelope and cape buffalo.... More

We saw elephants, impalas, hippos, zebras, buffaloes, many birds, and BABOONS EVERYWHERE. The baboons are not scared of the cars or humans. We were lucky to see the elephants, and it was awesome. Are guide was great, even though she had a heavy accent. The view of the lake from the mountains is very nice. We stayed in the park... More

Akegara is the closest thing Rwanda has to a game drive park, and it works well (day trip from Kigali), but some animals are imported (as they no longer can be found there naturally, like giraffes), but a friendly, well-organised and approachable park. Recommended! More

This is not your standard African National Park, there are only few animals like zebras giraffes etc. I frequent here because its near Kigali and the lodge even though in a bad shape is cheap. More

I have visited Akagera National Park twice, and enjoyed both visits. Although it is rare to see the elephants, lions or leopards, there is enough other wildlife to keep you entertained. It is an inexpensive alternative to Gorilla trekking while in Rwanda. The northern savannah portion of the park was just like a scene from the Lion King, including a... More
